    s50b30 rebuilt

    Hi guys,

    I'm new to this forum and my english is not so good..I'm coming from Slovenia, Europe.

    I have a '93 e36 3.0 m3 (euro) and i'm doing a rebiult on it. I have some questions, please help.


    What would you do if you were doing a rebuilt of an angine? I did straightened the head and allready bought new valves (supertech), and now I'm buying new stock pistons, head gasket (I want thinner than 1.74mm for better compression), main bearings, camshaft bearings, valve springs, head screws, teflons, chain garniture, vanos rebuilt (gaskets and solenoid)

    I also don't know what main and camshaft bearings should i buy, they have different color marks...

    Welcome to the forum.

    Your English is very good, so don't worry about that.

    While you are doing the gaskets in the VANOS you should buy the anti-rattle kit too. I recommend Beisan Systems.

    Some of these things might be obvious but make sure you replace all other gaskets that fail over time, like the oil filter housing gasket and o-rings, the oil pan gasket, dipstick tube gasket, crankshaft seals etc. Also check the idle valve, oil separator and all of the engine sensors.

    Check your clutch, flywheel and starter motor. These parts are hard to get at when the engine is back in the car.


    It would be a good idea to get all moving parts dynamically balanced, including the flywheel and clutch.
