    E46 M3 value brake rotors

    Hi guys,

Im located in Australia and have a 2002 E46 M3, so Im after some cost effective brake rotors. OEM is like $1200 AUD here.

What do you guys recommend? Also are the US rotors the same size as euro?

    Thanks

Yes, BMW didn't make different brakes between the markets, just the euro models have the cross drilled, while the US has solid.

How aggressive do you drive the car? Is this a track car or a Sunday driven only type of car?

Also the E-39 M-5 uses the same rear rotors as well.

You don't need braided lines for the street.

    Street pads = OEM

    +1

As my brake hoses were getting old, I just replaced them with the braided lines, as they were only 20 dollars more.

I would recommend the OEM pads, pagid or textar are normally the suppliers to BMW. I have used Bosch pads and rotors on the winter car, less dust, but you have to push harder on the brake pedal it seems.

Genuine BMW Euro rotors for a E46 M3 run about $253 each.

after market Euro rotors ( Zimmermann coat Z) run about $164 each.

True, but have you seen the shipping costs to that place?

    Hey Crazy-

Happy to see what I can do for you regarding shipping to Aus- If you'd like a quote, email or DM me your shipping address.

For street use, the Posi Quiet pads from StopTech are great- Less dust than a stock pad and less expensive. Match these up with a StopTech rotor (link below includes Slotted) and you'll be in great shape

Ian, why are you not using a sponsor account? I like turner, but you have to use the proper account, or see about getting this one added in.

Dworthy, OP asked for input... anyone is free to offer same.

Agreed, Ian should request the SV title through his boss.

    Compared to what specifically?

    - - - Updated - - -

For grins, I entered my choices for a set of brakes at Turner's site. They won't even ship outside of the continental US.

I thought Turner was owned by ECS now, who will take all of my shipping monies.

WorldPac, SSF, IMC, Parts Authority, Northside imports, FPSimports, FCPeuro... heck even bimmerworld has better pricing on some items...

FWIW my buddy lives in Maui and he got some TRW pads for his E46 M3 $60 free shipping... but IIRC is was done via some ebay seller i think its called euro asia parts

I was wondering about apples to apples. Same rotors to same rotors.

Pads are easy/cheap to ship. 75 lbs of rotors, not so much. eBay is the armpit as a source, IMO.

I agree Apples to Apples. Turner's Gross profit is ridiculous. Bimmerworld and the rest of the vendors i listed have about the same GP 25% IIRC.

Yeah Ebay can be crappy... however you can find a diamond in the ruff there.

I gave up on them after they (PayPpal, one in the same) pulled $1250 out of my account because the buyer was using a bogus credit card. It took two months to get my money back.
