Yeah that’s hooked up, and that line is open to air, just went outside now, started it, ran 2 seconds then died. Tried to start again, just cranks. EWS?

Sounds like EWS- mine would fire run and die

All in 3 seconds
Yeah that’s hooked up, and the other is open to air. Just cranked it for the first time this morning, fired and held fir 2 seconds then died. Tried to fire it a second time but it just cranks.

Anyway to check fuel pressure? I rebuilt the FPR that I got, I was also going to try and unplug the fuel line from the filter to see if I get a stream of fuel coming out during cranking. Should the fuel be a continued flow while cranking? I don’t exactly hear the pump going while in the car, and I have the seat out so I should be able to hear it loud right?

Yea the schrader valve is in the FPR assembly it’s self. If you don’t have a gauge, Autozone does for like $15

If it’s firing, it’s getting fuel though
Yeah true, just wondering why it’s just dying. The only sensor I reused was the crank position sensor, would that cause this kind of issue?

Yes That could be it too, do you have your diagnostic software set up? Any codes

AreYour spark plugs torqued?
- - - Updated - - -
Can you post a video of what it’s doing
Yeah all the plugs were torque’d to spec and properly gap checked. I know the timing is on, I did it about 4 Times, I have not yet set up any diagnostic systems yet. Need to get out my old laptop, working on uploading a vid.
What i I also find odd, is after a while like a few hours or overnight, it will fire, hold 2 seconds and die. Then after just cranks. Wait a few hours, it does it again, runs 2 seconds then just cranks, kinda like it gets a 2 second gulp of fuel then nothing.
so if I pull the hose before or after the fuel filter, will it continue to pump fuel during cranking? Or will it pump with just the ignition on?

It pump while priming, cranking and leak after you stop for a few seconds. Pumps are LPH...you can do the math, but you’re much better off getting the schrader gauge real quick. It’s very easy and has a pressure release for when you take it off.

got the connectors you sent... thanks so much for that...
update:
possibly its the crank position sensor thats bad... i have fuel and power with no spark.. all grounds and connections are good from what i can tell after going over the entire wiring harness 2-3 times. The CPS is one of only 3 sensors that was not changed from the 171k mile engine... looked suspect when i put it in... decided to order a new one and also get another Throttle position sensor for the top... i changed the bottom one earlier thats on the throttle motor... the only other sensor i have NOT changed to new then, will be the Intake cam position sensor.
Also, my XP laptop wont open the INPA, says theres an issue with "32win is not valid"... so i'll retry on my windows 10 laptop later tonight after work. Frank Smith who did the tune, replied to me and asked that i send him "my read" on it... i guess ill be figuring out how to do that too..
on a side note... and stupidity of myself... when i was under the car, checking the fuel lines to make sure gas was getting in... i disconnected the quick connect after the fuel filter, got sprayed with 91 premium in the face.. such a moron.. didnt even think it would come out like that..

As for the TTFS "read" it's super easy. Install their software "ProTuner", connect to OBD2 port and download the tune. Send him the .enc file and license/key file.

Who did your diagnostic plug?
what do you mean? the round plug in the engine bay? Andrew..its part of the swap harness

so, hating the old washer pump location, and to make the engine bay less cluttered, I was talking with PITT M3 RR today and i remembered that the Euro E36 M3 that came with the SMG trans, had a washer system that was used for the headlights, mounted into the front bumper on the US passenger side. Doing a little search i found what i was looking for, then headed over to REALOEM.com and got the part numbers
you also need to use the Euro M3 radiator cover, as the fill plug can be located on it. see pics below
the fill hole
open
total in ALL parts, including nuts bolts, ect was $216 (ECStuning) some parts are coming from Germany so they are a few weeks out..

Ya that’s going to look good
Ok so a new CPS came in, swapped it out, still the same .... mother EFF’R!!!!
So to add to the mystery, I have a scan tool. The scwabben tool, but it will not find the DME. Anyways I decided to disconnect the trans harness and the engine harness at the DME, as well as the swap harness and just work my way back.
So so if I’m counting this right, I’d like to think I am. I count 5 total ground wires in the engine bay.
1. Ground from the passenger motor arm to chassis
2. Ground wire from coil harness to bolt on the head.
3. One black ground wires from Andrews harness
4. Another black wire from Andrews harness
5. Thick bundled brown wires from engine harness
any I’m missing???
positive wires
using the factory junction block on the E36
1. Thick ass stock wire from battery to lower left terminal.
2. Smaller wire from factory wire to center, bottom terminal
3. Thick ass wire from fuse box, to middle left terminal
4. Thick ass wire from starter to top terminal.
5. 2 wires from Andrews harness labeled “constant” to right middle terminal
6. Slightly thicker red wire from main harness to middle right terminal (same as constants)
this is sound about right to everyone??

Take a picture of the thick bundle of brown wires from your engine harness, #5 in ground description.
I only my had 1ground wire coming off my main engine harness.
All the other grounds sound right to me.
Did you confirm the EWS was removed on your tune?
Also if you give it some gas will it keep running?
()()===[][]===()()
Just thought, do you have the starter connections correct from Andrews harness? Maybe it’s cranking, but not sending the starting signal to the DME
Ill post a pic to show what I mean. Haven’t pulled the DME into yet because I disconnected the harnesses.
no, won’t run if I give it gas, intact the blade won’t move while cranking, but with ignition on, they move just fine

Some pics, this is the grounds from the main harness

Seriously why does this site rotate my damn pics?
tbis is the starter, the black wire from Andrews harness (supposed to go to “30h”) is on the left terminal
