I had the protrusion facing the flywheel on my FX stage 2 clutch kit that I installed in my daily e36 M. I've put on maybe 5000 miles on it and haven't had any problems with it.
I have heard that if you get it backwards on that kit it could essentially weld the trans to the block. Weird, but apparently it's happened, so I'm glad that did not happen to you!
well the good news for me, on that, is i never put it in gear. it was still up on the stands, the only thing i did was push in the cltuch, never got it in gear...

very nice set up.. did you use UUC's recommended gear oil mixture? At first when i did the clutch swap i used Royal Purple syncromax.. was nice and quiet for a few years then got noisey.. i switched to UUC's blend and its about equal so.. either way i think you can go on that.

Don’t know if I ever posted the completed section1. I did my own euro section with 2.5” 200 cell bullet cats, with my own O2 sensor inputs(mostly for looks so it passes the visual emissions).

Quick question, what is the advantage to the z3 M motor mount arm? It looks like the Euro M3 arm is much easier to get a hold of and I've also heard you don't absolutely need either.
Has a mount for the air box support bracket. Unnecessary, unless you have OEM tattooed on your neck.
yeah im using the Stock driver side E36 US mount and the Euro E36 M3 passenger side... it has a built in heat shield.. protects the A/C, more importantly protects the S54 VANOS oil accumulator

Hi folks- First, I wanted to thank you guys for posting all this. I've been working on a swap and have found this an invaluable source for guiding me through it. I'm in the final stages and had a question about an exhaust system. I've got Megan Racing headers on the S54 and an Active Autoworks muffler that was connected to the stock e36 m3 section 2. I'm looking for the most cost-effective way to connect the two and I'm wondering if the stock e46 M3 Section 1 & 2 will work with minimal modifications. I don't have a way to bend pipe and have minimal welding skills. TH3 Shifty you seemed to have figured out the exhaust so any thoughts you have would be great. This is a track car only so no worries on emissions. Thanks
Bolt up the stock e46 M3 section 1, cut the last 2” off the stock section 2, the flanges that go into the muffler. Weld in whatever dual 2.5” muffler you want, a lot of us have used the OBX muffler.
PITT M3 has done a YouTube tutorial on this just the other day, maybe he will post it up here.
