pretty cool...not a fan of the supercharger and AC delete though
I agree.
With the removal of AC and the replacement of leather seats with carbon fiber, I'm guessing the owner who originally had it modified was expecting only to use it on the track, or for sporadic street use. It seems it was also modified only to the level that returning it to stock (comfort features, anyway) would be fairly easy.
A nice clean, largely unmolested, and (basically) one-owner 2.8 Roadster is up on BaT.

I'm curious how that strut brace helps the handling. It's been 25 years since I had anything like that (in my '86 GTI), and I remember it (and other suspension mods) meant I cracked my windshield on occasion. Perhaps on a roadster, it doesn't transfer as much flex into the A pillar. Would there be any ramifications on the rear subframe if the front is stiffened in this manner?

Good eye! My SS bar seems to fully engage the threads, but they're acorn nuts so I guess I've never really confirmed. I never really thought about it much either, but now I'll have to look at mine more closely.

I don't think these bars do much beyond reduce cowl "shake" a bit, but they do look nice. I've got an eBay sourced DINAN bar for the Coupe, but I'm only allowed to install it after I rebuild my VANOS. Don't ask me how long I've been planning to do that job.
40 pics and not one interior or engine bay shot. They’re smokin the good stuff

White normally makes me think of rental cars, but this combination of white exterior with the 2-tone interior really looks sharp.
I am very curious what final price it fetches.
What was original MSRP on a final year M coupe...Something under $60k?
Sure its 1 of 1 but its not the most desirable combo. Curious to see where it ends up. I suspect it will be listed for quite awhile and slowly disappear off sales sites or show up on BaT or at EAG...

A bargain.
FYI, an M roady is about to close on BaT. No spot-weld photos, apparently.

This 2002 BMW M Roadster is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over black and is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The car spent time in Delaware and New Jersey before moving to Pennsylvania with the seller’s acquisition in 2006. Features include Style 40 alloy wheels, a black soft top, and heated leather seats, and an oil change was reportedly performed earlier this year. Now showing 61k miles, this M Roadster is offered with factory documentation and tools, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
I think I do too. Don't get me wrong, I love my Coupe. But top down, supercharger whining and those quad exhaust tips doing their thing really sing to me. I can be doing 35mph in the Roadster and have more fun than 100mph in the Coupe. In fact, +100mph in a Z3 is just scary IMO.
And you're right. If you can drop $104k on a Z3, why not have a Z8?
Found my perfect spec:

BaT seems like the place to get slightly below retail value for M roadsters lol...
M Coupes dont do super well on their either. I kind of have to wonder why, since tons of other models (non-M E46 convertibles, E39s, etc) do really well for some reason

Thats a purdy one fer sure. I like the color matched wind screen, too bad we didn’t have that option afaik. I have noticed that the M does seem a bit scarier at high speed than my old 2.3 did. I drove it at 100mph+ quite a bit and it felt so solid. The staggered setup might have something to do with it.
Looks like BAT has added a Z3 category under BMW along with M Roadster and M Coupe. I don't remember seeing that before.

They should split the Z3 into Roadster and coupe.
The high coupe prices skew the details.

Yeah, although it's a nice-looking car, I'm skeptical of the 32k mileage; the steering wheel and shift knob look to be too "smooth and shiny" and the seat wear is a bit more than I would expect.
It does appear to be in pretty good condition, other than the hack job on the sew-in top window.
A clean CARFAX report is better than nothing, but is in no way proof that the car has led an accident-free life.
And it’s in Canada.
