Looking great Paul; the bumpers really transform the look of the car for sure!
Let me know if you want to get rid of the rear Konis when you swap out for the GC setup if you aren't using them on a different car. I am looking into a few options to get Koni single adjustables on e38s. I think the rear will more or less work well enough as is and I may modify or gut and install the front koni damper into an e38 strut housings.

Looking great Paul. Are your lens DJ Auto?

Also, if the car were lowered a tad bit it would look amazing and have a great stance look to it.
Thanks!
No, Lemforder from FCP. I still have a bunch of store credit with them. I did also buy a brand new M5 steering wheel from them with the store credit. I forgot to mention that before . $815 well spent, LOL.

Yeah, Tyler, who we just did a M7 build for is now wanting to add a M5T to his list of E39 M5s, LOL.
Thanks!!!

My store credit from the E38 suspension parts came out to almost $1100, so I'm ok.

I completely agree Chris. The bumpers have been on my todo list since I bought the car and I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally do it. I also didn't want to deal with aftermarket fitment issues, so going OE was the only option. I did go aftermarket on the fender liners and I'm really regretting it as they fit horribly. I'll be on the lookout for OE ones for a reasonable price. I do have an OE belly pan to go on, but I'll wait until I have the fender liners before installing it.
Once I put the GCs on, I'll definitely offer the rear Konis to you, but I also already have some rear Konis that I had from when it was a 530i. They are the same part number, but I think the lower spring perches might be slightly different. If you want to play around with them, let me know. E38s definitely need a Koni option as the Bilsteins are way too rough in my opinion.

Thanks! I appreciate that.

Thanks Chris! I agree .

Yes, same Helix/DJ Auto lenses that you bought from ECS. I highly recommend them. They are very nice quality, but I would recommend putting some protecting film over them as they do seem to get rock chips easily (as evidenced by my wagon that gets driven a lot more).
GCs will be handling the lowering . It will be at about the same height Brian's blue M5 was (since that's what they came off of).

I have them installed already. Just have to get a protective film over it.
Wait a minute, you guys been pillaging Brian's M5? Did he sell the blue M5???
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
All I'm going to say is that it's back to stock, pretty much completely.
I did get the GCs from it and the Borla exhaust with muffler delete (mwahahaha). The best sounding exhaust on a S62 in my opinion. He did not want to let it go, but it wouldn't work on his wagon, so he did. He figures if I have it, he'll at least get to hear it again on occasion.

I have always liked the sound of that borla exhaust on that LMB M5. Probably more than the wagon. The other exhaust that I really like is Hayward & Scott exhaust but it's expensive and ships from overseas.

What was the story with store credit?
You took off all FCP parts from your E38 and shipped them back to FCP?

Your current situation is not your final destination
Those M5 bumpers look great!
Those re-wrapped options are fine. I've felt both Brian's and Tyler's, but I figured I had the store credit available and why not splurge on something I'll appreciate every single time I get in the car. Not to mention, I had just got the brand new airbag from the recall and the new wheel included brand new multifunction controls and lower M trim, it just made sense. The main differences are that the leather on the rewrapped is smooth and the original is textured. A minor difference, but still.

Yes, I took all the suspension parts that I had recently bought for the e38 that I couldn't use anymore and couldn't sell since they were used and sent them back to FCP. They give store credit now for all returns, so I just put it all together and bought the steering wheel and a few other things.

So, tonight in preparation for the HPDE at VIR happening next weekend, I finally changed out the failed thrust arm bushings I installed last fall when I did the conversion. I showed pictures before of the stain under the driver side thrust arm bushing months ago. Well, the passenger side bushing was probably fine, but I changed both out for X5 bushings and when pressing out the driver side bushing, the rubber part came out easily out of the metal sleeve. It's not supposed to do that. I think with all of the fluid escaped, it made it not hold in there very well anymore. These bushings don't even have 11k miles on them. I'm thinking that the driver side one was defective on arrival though, since it's had the shudder on braking from the very beginning. With the new X5 bushings, the car feels amazing and there's no more brake shudder or vibration at lower speeds.
Also, there was some discussion when I posted about the stain months ago as to whether or not there is fluid in them and where it would be contained. Well, here's the proof:
There were still a few drops of fluid left, but none leaked out when we pressed the rubber out of the sleeve, so I'm sure it had all leaked out while it was on the car.

Have you considered going to some nice monoballs? I've yet to install mine from Syncro Design Works (I got T-boned before I got a chance to install them, and life's been a whirlwind since).

Iirc the lemforder x5's are fluid filled too. Likely better than the lem e39 ones, but still... If possible, I'd try to get the X5 Meyle HD's. No fluid and great deflection stop piece that prevents excess travel during hard braking.

Wow thats bad defective parts man! And goes to prove - those start to get cracks = they're gonna be useless. Some idiot on another part of this site who pretends to be an expert on all things BMW but doesn't really know E39's gives the advice that 'cracks don't mean much' and 'you can't know oil has leaked out' and 'oil probably doesn't even matter' and 'I'm not even sure they are oil filled' etc. to unsuspecting n00bz. All wrong. Of course in these case they weren't even age-cracked... just plain bad-parts blown out!

Unsurprising.
Like Delrin bushings, which seem real cool racecar until you actually have to daily the car concerned, replacing rubber w/ spherical bushings etc. everywhere has to be done very judiciously if at all.
Rubber is a real good material actually. So is urethane but its' not always a good match for the stresses, so... prob need to consider the part application each time.
