I started around 10am and took several breaks to work and was test driving by about 8pm. Finicky parts are removing the fuel injector clips and just freeing the original manifold from the block. A lot of the vacuum fittings on the rear I did by feel and the hose from cyclone to oil pan is kinda short so gotta reach under there. Also fitting the adapter plate around TB is a little time consuming...gotta grind down TB a bit to fit. It's worth it though.

Placed an order with the owner of a local auto upholstery shop for a replacement soft top. By car is black on black on black, which gets too bloody hot when driving on sunny summer days, esp on the highway, when I need the top up. So, I've decided on a sandalwood top which I hope will absorb fewer photons.
Installation to be scheduled...Quote is $1500 for the whole shebang.

Why paint it? It looks awesome.
Had my seats redone in dark red leather and new heat pads. Also had them fashion a leather strap to replace the plastic seat belt guide.
I really think it came out perfect and I love them a lot better than the entire black interior. My other two cars have all black leather so this mixes it up for me.

Next I will have the shift boot and door cards switched to red leather as well. I waited only to be sure I wasn't overdoing the red.
To finish the interior I'll send my wood trim out to have it wrapped in black carbon fiber in the coming weeks.

Great job on the seats. Came out very well.
Removed calipers, cleaned and painted. Drained and filled brake fluid. Bled brakes.

Way too much...
-Freshly repainted rear bumper (I modded for a dual exhaust)
-LED flashing 3rd brake light (thanks Robb!) - hopefully no more rear endings
-Good, but used, rear bumper shocks, bumper rivets (the correct black ones)
-Fresh bumper carrier bolts (thanks Fastenal...$1.14 apiece vs. the $20 or so PER bolt from BMW
-New rad cap (old started leaking)
-Caliper rebuild kit (scored a spare set of M calipers for $75, might as well rebuild and paint them while they're off a car)
-Spare M calipers
-New fan clutch (no particular reason other than the current is original)
-Fan shround (Coupe never had one)
-Fan grill (old one pretty beat up)
-BBS gold wheel center caps (going on Style 42s)
-Amber OEM front bumper lenses (cheapo Depo smoked ones on Coupe have a lot of cracks)
-Spare alarm fob (I always buy them when I find a deal...think I have 4 or 5 now and yes I'm hoarding them)
-M sway bar links for the Z3 Coupe (front and rear) - hopefully no rear bar popping out of links anymore. Front boots were torn.
-Probably a dozen other things
Right Headlight assembly OEM take-off from https://prussianmotors.com/ via ebay. Nice and clear with intact tabs.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...otenza+RE980AS WOW!! What a difference these Bridgestone Potenza tires make. The car drives so much better. The handling is fantastic and it sticks to the road like glue. They hug the corners with ease. Yepper, driving my Z-3 with these new tires definitely puts a smile on my face.

Just ordered Lemforder tie rod assemblies, control arms and solid rubber centered hole bushings from FCP Euro. Based on the pictures etc. of the bushings on Real OEM and other sites, appears like the original bushings are centered and not offset. Cant check the car currently. Can anyone confirm?

I ordered some hardware for the exhaust; nuts, bolts and gaskets. I am planning on trying to dunk the catalytic converter in citric acid. The previous owner destroyed the engine and antifreeze went down the exhaust. I have been driving it 8 months on a new motor, but I get engine codes/light for bad catalytic converter.

Audio upgrade weekend for both cars. For the coupe I replaced the JVC head unit that Alvin installed in 2008. It was a fine unit for its time, but the inputs have become obsolete. I chose a VDO / Continental Bluetooth unit as a replacement. It has a much simpler design that is more compatible with the interior.
For the roadster I added Bluetooth capability to the stock C33 head unit. I sacrificed the CD trunk changer and installed the microphone in the blank to the right of the steering column.
Great to bring both car audio systems into the modern age.
