I'm OCD about keeping spreadsheets for all my cars (I think I have 8 spreadsheets going at the moment). Other than gas, I can tell to the penny exactly what I have in my M Roadster--let's just say it's ridiculous and way too much and leave it at that.

I kept spreadsheets for a '58 MGA, a '66 E-type, and a '67 Airstream. I lost a little on the MGA, broke even on the Jag, and will probably lose on the Airstream. I think I'll choose to believe the M Roadster is completely worth it!

I've always thought that my M Coupe looked a little odd with a smaller diameter rear tire (24.7 vs 25.0 front), so now that I used up another set of rear Conti DW's I decided to try something slightly different. I ordered the new Conti Extreme Contact Sport, but instead of 245/40-17 I ordered 245/45-17, which are 25.7" diameter. These should fill up the fender better, and will improve the accuracy of the speedometer a little. Now I just have to find a place that can deal with the oddball offset rims without stripping the powdercoat off of the outside rims (been there, done that).

Anyone have any recommendations of a superior tire shop in the Sacramento/Elk Grove area?

A new from bumper for my 98 ///M Roadster. $799 + tax Ouch!

But since i'm having the hood replaced it seemed like a good time to get it done.
At least i'm not footing the bill for the paint job !

Same exact reason I went with 285/35/18 vs. 285/30/18...I like the slightly raked look a lot better than the other way around and my speedo is near dead on now.

25.9" vs. 24.7" and no fitment issues whatsoever on lowered springs. Wheels are 10.5" wide. Fronts are 235/40 (25.4").

Wow, prices have gone up. When I did that a few years ago the front cover was under $500.

I'm sure the body shop jacks the price up, they do a ton of work for the local dealership. I'm sure they get a huge brake on the retail price, then add a large profit margin on top of that.

That's part of the business. If the body shop/mechanic shop can get the part for less than you pay, you will be charged the price you would have paid had you bought it yourself. This explains the reluctance when an owner volunteers to bring the necessary parts.

I agree, I had sourced a perfectly good, 2 year old hood painted in the correct color. They refused to accept it as part of the repair.
Prefering to charge the insurance company the full cost of the retail oem hood.

No wonder our insurance costs are so high.

I had actually considered throwing it up on eBay.
But it’s a pain to ship.

Only damage is the bottom where the previous owners kid ran it into a curb.

It’s repairable. But the hours involved at the body shop would not make it worth the effort and cost.
Hence I just opted for a new cover.

Saying all that a buddy here in town expressed an interest.
    For free of course.

If that doesn’t work out I will get back to you.

I don't mind paying shipping if that doesn't work out

I need another M bumper cover, one in bad shape would be ideal, it's going to have a lot of bodywork done to it anyways. Want to try a bit of a custom look but don't want to hack up my good bumper covers to do it

shipping isn't bad. Just wrap it in bubble wrap and packing tape then ship it via greyhound.

Oh the joys of a new rear window.
Now, if only the body shop would give me my car back.

Just a followup. I got the new tires mounted up yesterday, and made a GPS-based calibration run this morning. The results surprised me a little. Whereas the 245/40-17 Conti's were giving me a speedometer reading that was exactly 10% high, switching to a 245/45-17 Conti which is nominally a full inch taller (25.7" versus 24.7") the speedo reading was still 7.5% high. So it improved a bit, but I think I can categorically state that you can't fix the error with tires, as it would take a tire about 27.25 inches tall to make that happen.

Just got it through emissions to get the registration renewed and on my way to work I had a tire go out... so, 4 new tires. I'm trying the Firehawk Indy 500's this time around, it was about $450 shipped for a set of 4

Oh boy, I probably could post everyday, as I am draining my "new hobby" account... Already spent thousands of $$$$ on buying various stuff for my newly acquired 2001 Z3M as I transition it into bit more track ready pony. I will post pictures when done. But my most recent acquisition was used, but untested HMS Rollbar from one of the members. Looking forward to getting it installed as it gets a bit warmer.
