Simulated fire lighted side vent kit. Last kit the vendor had as he doesn't make them anymore. I'll have to put in my own flicker circuit, but otherwise a sweet kit (if it works).
Antenna delete plug.
Seat cushions, detailed on another thread.

Some Rein coolant hoses from FCP. Replaced front control arms and bushings a couple of weeks ago.
Bought 1 if the last 2 driveshafts available in the world. And a BG products frigi-clean and frigi-fresh ac evaporator cleaner/freshener
Replaced engine and transmission mounts yesterday. The original mounts visually appeared fine, but slightly compressed vs the new ones. Also replaced the fuel filter that was on for about 50K miles. The only damage I did was knock off a bit of what I believe is ASC cable (I need to look this up) retainer bushing. The bushing is slightly loose now. Car has 99K plus miles now.
So, a bit more collateral damage occurred during the engine mount replacement. I believe I tweaked the cooling system while raising the engine. The car has a minor leak in the area below the coolant reservoir. A new coolant reservoir is on order. I will change the reservoir, and hose from the reservoir to the water pipe, pressure test the system etc. Just some inconvenient additional work.

I actually think it is a temp sensor.
Kelvin
Yes, If I'm not mistaken the battery looking item is a temperature sensor for the heated wiper fluid. It's located in the center air duct on the passenger side. The probe looking item is for reading outside temperature by the OBC. The probe is also located in the front grill.
I bought my Z3, well, a Z3. That is to say, I scouted out a nearly flawless one on Bring A Trailer, won the auction, and flew up to Massachusetts to pick it up. The wife and I spent a couple days driving it home to New Orleans. It's a pretty basic one, no headliner, just bun warmers and I think sport seats. But she had only 66K miles and the obligatory five speed. No automatics need apply. Leased a new one in 99 for my first wife and it was a 2.3/auto, which was a crime against automobiling, but she couldnt drive a manual.
Got my hood repainted...
Bought a bottle of Maguiars waterless wash for bug removal after the putt. Good stuff and leaves a waxy finish.

Our government cannot control world-market (global) prices. But please, let's not make this forum political.

I beg to pardon, government policies have a huge effect on how much oil companies invest in exploration and drilling each month. On Biden's first day in office he sent a strong signal to fossil fuel industry that they were not part of our energy future, thus they have cut back tremendously in future plans for continuous oil exploration. World oil prices are set by a bidding process. When countries like Japan, who have absolutely no access to oil, see this they start locking in contracts long term thus driving prices up. Being that we aren't getting 40 mpg, this does effect our Z3 community, so I don't consider it purely political.
Here we go. My wife closely watches the oil industry on Marketwatch.com and other sites. She's passed me numerous articles on the subject, although I admit I'm not an expert. The bottleneck here in the US is our refining capacity and the oil industry says with the prospect of electrification going forward, they expect a diminishing demand and thus refuse to invest the huge sums in increasing the number of refineries here and/or modifying them to accept the type of crude we're producing.
Futhermore, the previous administration tied the price of LNG to Henry Hub, a global market, rather than maintaining the caps/controls. This led to a huge increase in exports of LNG at the expense of American consumers as prices rose dramatically.
But beyond that, the climate changes are accelerating and with no dramatic action taken, well Iowa will become a desert eventually. The SW will be uninhabitable and food famines (and wars) will become widespread. Yet people keep buy gas guzzling SUVs, big pickup trucks most of them don't need and basically burn baby burn. When I was in the service and stationed in Germany, the Europeans put huge taxes on gasoline and other energy consumption because they recognized the importation of fossil fuel was a big drain on the economy. The response was smaller, more fuel-efficient cars and plenty of money for infrastructure maintenance such as the wonderful autobahn. I'm a fan of social engineering like that since people are generally too stupid or too selfish to modify their behavior. In fact, it gives me satisfaction to see on the news people whining about how much it costs to fill their oversize vehicles. WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF AN IMMEDIATE CRISIS and people don't want to accept it, wake up and support the sometimes painful changes needed. They believe what they want to believe, something Mit Romney pointed out in a recent speech.
Now a Z3 isn't a daily driver for most people, and many here dump tons of time and money into their toys. So, if they get 25 MPG (just an example) and drive 5000 miles per year at $8/gallon, well that $1600 as opposed to $800 at $4/gallon should be an acceptable compromise. But only if you look at the huge cost of climate change. Selfishness permeates our society. I remember people in town council meetings arguing that they shouldn't have to pay property taxes since they don't have any kids in school. And now, we have fools believing in all kinds of conspiracy theories.
I've given up on the human race and see little to no hope just as George Carlin admitted at the end of his life. So, I'll wrench on my fairly fuel efficient 4-banger and enjoy the 3k-4k miles/year I put on her and this is all I have to say here on political things.

LIke cyberman said. Let’s keep political discussions in the OT section. Too easy for feelings to get hurt and tempers to flare causing a diminished experience here. Only dealer/shop/car rants allowed and tolerated. Rant over..oh and I bought a new ac line from the drier to the evaporator.

I'm surprised political discussion posts are allowed in the Bimmer-sponsored forums. I've been in 3 and currently 2 forums and any hint of political bent led to deletion by the first administrator who saw it. FWIW.

I think this forum strikes a pretty good balance since there is no clear definition of what is political and what is not. I've been on forums where "political" posts are removed pronto but you can say things like 'I support our troops' etc. with impunity. That to my mind is biased censorship as it allows one political view but not another. That said, this forum is not for politics. It's for Z3 enthusiasts. I try to keep my political and religious views out of this forum (though I have failed on occasion) and unite here as Z3 brothers and sisters.
Peace and love to all, even those with differing opinions to mine.
