convertible top lock working sporatically

2003 z4 convertible windshield latches work then don't. sometimes they will unlock with ignition in off position

Maybe the wiring harness going from the front of the top to the back is breaking. I believe it runs on the drivers side of the top.

That is correct it is the wire bundle probably where it bends when the roof closes/opens. Have the close roof switch depressed and wiggle the cable, when the roof moves you got the spot. Learned this from a Master BMW Mech.

I don't really know the answer, but have you tried unplugging the battery for 10 minutes then plugging it back in to reset?
