E39 540iT no crank, no start

I have an E39 year 2000 540iT automatic transmission with a no crank no start issue. I scanned with BMW P.A. Soft which resulted with the following errors:
EGS module: 53(083)ECU internal error 4 (FETI), also 22(34) sump oil temp. sensor
LCM module: 59(89) Transmission failsafe program
IKE module: FB(251) no CAN message (EGS1)
EWS module: no errors, but live data shows: starter enabled-gearbox in P/N = NO (red box)
The car will crank and run by putting the ignition key in the second position and jumping the starter terminals. The ignition switch has had all contacts cleaned appears to be in good working order. The ignition key is recognized by the EWS and all fuses in the glove box are good. The wires to the transmission range switch (gear position/neutral safety switch) appear to be fine.
Do I have a bad EGS? Could it be a bad relay that controls the EGS module?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
    Richard

I'm shocked now one has responded yet. A bad EGS won't cause your 540 not to start and run. The fact that the starter will crank and run the car if you jump it, points back to possible bad Ignition switch. As the switch is relatively cheap, I'd start there. I've seen strange things happen on these cars when the ignition switch is bad. Many different things would have to be wrong at the same time for you to get the above errors. If the car was not crashed or drowned in water, I'd start with the simple stuff first.
