My cosmos sedan has been under the knife for the past couple weeks so I would like to share some pics of the body work by my friend Victor at Excel Motorsports.
The finished product:

Earlier this year I had a built S52, e85 RK tune, Vortech V1 supercharger, etc. installed. Car is running like a champ on ethanol, couldn't be more happy with the instant response and linear power delivery.
More details can be found in the FI section: http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...tech-V1-E85-RK

Did a little rattle can magic when the motor was out. Shaved some brackets, primed/painted, and finished with 2K catalyzed clear (basically the best you can get out of a can):

After the drivetrain was wrapped up, I delivered the car to Excel Motorsports for paint & body.
Work included installation of Hard Motorsports V2 rear fender flares (coupe only, needed to be modified to fit sedan), DTM Fiberwerkz front fenders (modified to fit because poor product quality) and a complete paint job.
Wider fenders were necessary to accommodate 18x10 et2X mm (F) & 18x11 et35 mm (R) SSR SP1 Professors. I had Wheelflip cut and widen the rear wheels, as well as powdercoat the faces in Rays Engineering Gunblue.

I'm sure my old roommates loved this display:

Day of delivery. I already cut and welded the rear quarters last year, in preparation for rear overfenders:

Victor had to do quite a bit of modification to get the DTM front fenders to line up nicely. The work resulted in huge wheel/tire clearance.

I remember your car in its glory days, always appreciated it.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product, what size tires will you be running/able to fit? Do you plan on exposed rivets?
Can't wait to see how it turns out! Awesome!!
Oh boy! I can't wait.

So cool
I see you selling the rear flares. Why??
Thanks for enthusiasm guys, car got painted last evening, more pics ASAP!
Thanks man, good to see another oldschool e36 guy who still loves his car enough to deal with the upkeep! Current tires are 245/35/18 F / 265/35/18 rear, yes I know they are undersized as hell. I will maximize tire sizes when these RSRs wear out.
Rears will have a couple exposed black rivets, we'll see how much they stand out vs. the front fenders.
The flares for sale are the V1 sized flares, I decided to run the larger V2 after a test fit. Although the current 265 would have fit the the smaller V1 flares, I didn't want issues with fitting a 275 or 285 in the rear.

Looks good but Im a bit confused, front fenders are moulded/part of the fender but rears will be riveted on? Roof is not being painted either?

I was curious to see how the front and rear would match, looks awesome man! Can't wait to see it all buttoned up!

Looks good man, I really like how the front turned out, I see a little bit of fitment issue in the rear but its not so bad. All in all a great product. Thanks for sharing man

Looks great!
Aw yeah. When will you be filling out the fenders?
That was a one of my concerns, but using a minimal amount of black rivets (Hard MS recommends like three times as many rivets, looks busy IMO) works well to make the rear flares look more subtle. I'm gunna use a urethane sealant on the rear fender seam (a la Rauh Welt). I should have more complete pics coming next week.
Thanks! From the pics it does look like the rear tire is a bit close to the front of the rear fender. It might just be the pic, I'll take a closer look when I get the car back.
Thanks bud, I've followed in your footsteps (wide sc'd e36)!
I've got a new set of Hypercoil springs I need to install, so I'll dial in the ride height when I throw those on. Will use spacers to minimize fender gap for the time being. Looking forward to 255/35 & 275/35 once these Federal RSRs die (they're brand new).

Wow, looks great! Too many rivets in the rear would make it look busy, I agree with that. Gives me inspiration to widebody mine someday, because the clear coat is starting to go.

To bring back a thread from the dead, some minor updates. Adjusted ride height/spacers/spring rates/camber until I found a sweet spot for stance/street performance (I just about DD it). Current spring/rates are Hypercoil 500# front with UUC swaybar, 750# rear no swaybar. Painted, color sanded and installed moldings w/ International Motorsport inserts. Installed a better Pioneer headunit and replaced the armrest cover with a fresh Rally Road leather cover. Replaced the intake manifold after it cracked. Did a million other things not worth mentioning, still need to clean up the interior as it is stripped down to the metal and I want to do some aesthetic improvements.
Car is running super hard on approx. 12-13 PSI, e85, and the RK tune, only minor issue is a strong tendency to stall on cold start. I wish I had gone with slightly beefier tires as the 265/35/18 Federal RSRs aren't providing sufficient traction (none in 1st and hardly any in 2nd unless I get them really warmed up).
