Greetings. I have tried to do my own research here but am not finding a whole lot out. I have just purchased a 2011 335i xdrive and it comes with the factory navigation. I would like to add a backup camera. I see a lot of them on the market but strangely they range from anywhere from maybe $50 to closer to $1000, which seems overwhelming. I've searched the forums and can't seem to find specific recommendations on one that the community agrees works good. It's usually people saying "I bought this one and it works great, except..."
I see a lot of questions just like mine that have gone unanswered, too. Surely someone has some input? I don't need the cheapest option, per se. Ease of installation and a good interaction with the factory system are perhaps higher priorities than price. But certainly I would rather not spend $700 on one, either.
Thanks much!
Look at the wireless back up camera and mirror monitor on EBay...friend of mine bought one and the only mod he had to do is mount the mirror to the factory mount and run power to both sender and reciver

I'm also interested in an answer to the OP's question.
Anyone have a suggestion for something that integrates into iDrive but doesn't cost a grand?
Saii, thank you, but like opjose I really want something that intergrates into the nav screen and seems completely factory.
I have done more reading and it almost sounds like "any" kit will work and that it's mostly the quality of the install that matters.
Any more thoughts from experienced parties?
Bump for myself wanting this info too. '11 E91 Touring
Without PDC sensors, looking to retrofit a backup cam in that'll behave like it came that way.
Been tough to research this and get any good info.

Just saw this. Did lots of research on this and just purchased the parts after seeing them installed on a friends BMW.
I cant speak from personal experience on my own but it works perfectly in his 335i wih iDrive. I will report back after all the parts get here and I install em.
I will list what I purchased as I wanted an OEM feel that integrates with iDrive.
First get a camera obviously. I got this one as it looks OEM and replaces your trunk handle.

Then you need an emulator. If you are just doing the backup camera you can just get this.

If you dont want to splice any of your original wires in the back of the iDrive system you can buy a quad-lock extension like this and tap into this after plugged in. This would only be if you were using the emulator above.

Now if you want to add a multimedia interface you can add somthing like this. This will give you the ability to add a backup camera AND other inputs wanted. For me I will be looking to do smartphone mirroring (Waze on iDrive as our nav sucks) and maybe one day install a game system. With this box you DO NOT need the Backup camera interface listed above.

I will report back after everything comes and I get it installed.
Good luck to all!
Did this ever happen? Looking to add RVC to my '11 Touring.
