Best range / MPG you have done?

Driving down 101 to monterey last week, set a range and mpg record for our coupe... Made it 315 miles, and averaged 27.8 mpg on that tank, which seems incredible to me as I was not driving economically. On the way back, 80mph on i5 with the A/c on we were closer to 22mpg, and stopped at 260 miles per fill up. Before rebuilding the head and vanos I was averaging 17-19mpg. What are your best / worst MPG and ranges per tank?

First time I've ever calculated is on my way to Dorkfest. 20mpg is our best so far. Too hard to drive slow though.

Since getting the Z3 in 2012, it has been 12,678 miles on 450.2 gallons = 28.16 mpg.
Best tank was 33.3, a couple of tanks were 31.

I get low 20's when babying my s52 due to the diff, usually high teens. Mid to high teens in the s54. I dont own z3s for mpg, I have a mazda 3 for long distance drives where mpg matters ($20 gets me 400 miles in that thing!)

Thats very good bergy... I was absolutely shocked how much different it was on the coast, vs I5 with the a/c on... Does the ac really rob you of that many mpg? Does the 100 degree temp and higher speed make a bigger difference? Or is the combination of all three factors all contribute in eaqual parts?

I dont really care in the end, i was just very pleased with how much better it was post rebuild.

I got 18 mpg at my last fill up, which is good for me--the supercharger and my foot conspire together against my mileage.

What motors do you have folks? Perhaps mention displacement in replies.

With 6psi and a 3.73 diff I could get 20 on the highway in the M (3.2l). When I went to 10psi my gas mileage dropped disproportionately. Not complaining, just saying my mileage is now horrible.

Managed 254 miles on a tank, around 11.1 gallons to fill up. 22.88 mpg while averaging 80-85 in 6th gear.

    S54 w/ 3.73 LSD + 6spd

Most of our drive was worse efficiency-wise, but at higher average speeds.

It really depends on the fuel - what state's blend and the season. With a '99 2.5 5SP, with CA gas 27mpg is pretty normal - that's freeway mileage, and generally somewhat on the other side of the posted speed limit. In AZ in the winter, best tanks have been 30.2 and 30.3 - that's 89E0. With OR gas, 29.6 or 29.7, 89E10.

Using the same state's gas (CA) on the coast vs I5 and Redding/RedBluff heat - the a/c is worth 2-3mpg... which is about the same as top up vs top down :-(

today I pulled in for gas with 331 miles on the tank with OBC showing about 30 miles remaining.. I get around 29 mpg, 30 mpg is tough since we are forced fed E10 around here - that cost 1-2mpg vs E0 I believe, stupid ethanol mandate :<

The best of 24.6 was coming back from SF on 101, running 80 to 85 where traffic allowed. S52 Roady.

Otherwise right around 20 mpg as a semi daily driver (I don't commute).
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would motor about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

I average 22. That is short trips. I'm guessing I can probably get around 25 on a longer trip?

Not sure what my MPG was, but I was able to document my top speed. And I'm sure it is correct since it was saved on my GPS.

One of our Autocross sites is about 60 miles (all interstate) away, so about 120 miles plus the Autocross (where I idle between runs) I usually see about 20-21 MPG in my S54 Roadster.

19-21 mpg with 90% hwy / 10% city in West TX
24-26 mpg from Dallas to Odessa, very little city

    A/C always on.

Our gas sucks really bad. I got up to 6 mpg more in my last car in CO and NM driving (mountains, A/C, passengers). IL, MO, OK, all have crappy gas too.

My average for the year is 31.8 over 11k miles. Though I have a 1.9 DD. My best is 35.8 way back in 2011. I did 412 miles on a tank earlier this year, that was 12.45 gallons. My car is over 285K miles, so I drive it easy, but every day unless there's lots of snow.

3.0 Z coupe usually averages 20mpg. The best I've did was 23 mpg mostly in the highway.
The m barely gets driven so I don't know.
