    Unhappy X3 Error codes

    I have a 2004 X3, all the problems started at 171000ks.
    Transfer case actuator, reconditioned installed.
    New spark plugs
    New ignition coils installed.
New fan and a/c belts fitted
    New pre-cat O2 sensors fitted after error codes 2883 & 2882.
    The current codes are P0174 & P0171.
Has anyone got any more specific advise other than "air Leak" PLEASE

P0174 & P0171 generally indicate a vacuum leak. It can be other things but most BMW M54B25/30 engine series owners will say it is vacuum leak. The only way to confirm that is with a smoke test. Have the two Intake Manifold Rubber Boots been replaced? These are common parts that develop cracks and cause a vacuum leak. I've been chasing the P0171/174 codes myself. I've replaced the Intake Boots, cleaned the DISA & installed a new O-Ring, added a big bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner and replaced the MAF with a budget one from EBay after reading of a Lexus owner that solved his P0171/174 issues with e new MAF. Mine was original to the car (134K miles). I also cleaned the Oil Cap and manifold seal and inspected and cleaned the Oil Dipstick O-rings. I'm hoping my issues are solved but have only driven the car a few times since but no error codes yet.

I decided to keep a log. I am almost certain that it was the MAF all along.

8/19/2016 - New MAF, Lower Intake Boot reseated. Oil Cap, Dipstick and Manifold opening cleaned.
8/19/2016 - 19 miles, 2 stops, no codes, none pending. Oil checked.
8/19/2016 - 9 miles, 2 stops, no codes, none pending.
8/23/2016 - 15 miles, 4 stops, no codes, none pending.
8/26/2016 - 22 miles. 2 stops, no codes, none pending.
8/27/2016 - 5 miles, one stop, no codes, none pending.
8/28/2016 - 20 miles, two stops, no codes, none pending.
8/30/2016 - 18 miles, two stops, no codes, none pending.

    Totals: 108 miles, 15 stops.

I'm approaching 500 'code free' miles.
