Speaker issues - very odd question

Hi, sorry to make my first post a strange one...
I have a 2004 e64 and have had an issue with speakers (rear) popping and crackling (even with head unit turned off). Having read many threads here and elsewhere I bought a replacement amp from eBay and tried it.
    Problem is still there.
I have been searching for any info on speakers before gutting the rear of the car: every link I can find refers to two mid-range speakers in the side panels (which I have) and two tweeters above them (which I don't). I do have a separate half-moon shaped grille under the armrest on each side and this is where the noise is coming from. Does anyone know what speaker would be fitted behind there, how to replace and whether I would be best to go aftermarket or OEM (not got the budget to replace the others at the same time so worried about mix and match solution).
    Sorry if this sounds dumb!

It could be a bad ULF or TCU, that interferes in the MOST-BUS...
Try with a loop and see if you can solve it
