Yeah, subtle is good, even more so as I get older--I'm no longer a scoop guy, but its fun to visualize, even if I wouldn't do it. Heck mine still has 100% stock exhaust and I had every opportunity to change it. I had it off and even changed a broken manifold (I have the style with the preconverters), and I left all catalysts intact, all 4 of 'em... My younger self would have broken all that out, and done a rear mufflerectomy. Though I still may replace the rear mufflers with some chambered straight throughs or glasspacks, but will definitely leave the upstream stuff intact since I'm stock motor. Don't want a bark I can't back up (or drone on the highway since most miles are carrying me back and forth from Indy to Chicago).
Just another brief update. Project is coming along slowly but it's coming along in a real way! Half shafts and new driveshaft to fit E34 rear are all back and ready to install. Did a dry fit today and will be buttoning it up in the next week or so. Then for a test drive before tearing down the motor for a bigger cam! Once it's back on the road I will get a video of the rear in working order. And I will take many pics of the new diff installed! New rear hubs and wheel bearing are in as well.
Oh!! And hood is off to get done as well! Can't wait to see the new hood scoop tucked in and the hood repainted!

Dude, once you are done I suggest a grudge match up!!!!
I would love to see your car against the white super charged s62 powered e38 on the forum here.
Totally different set ups, both big horse power fast beasties!!!!
I think you'd win convincingly!!!

Once the car is dialed in I have all intentions of taking it down a strip to see how fast she really is. I have no qualms with going head to head with a supercharged S62 . I will not have anywhere near the top end the S62 will have but it would be a fun run for sure! What kind of hp do the supercharged S62s put out?
I appreciate the confidence in the win though!!

Very! They guy is meticulous so hopefully the work is great! I have never used him before, but if it is I have a lot more work for him!
740 alpina lip, trunk and roof spoiler
540 front and rear bumpers
X5 front bumper and hood
I did tell him that to entice a good result. We shall see.

I sincerely hope all of those parts are going on other cars!!!! Well except for the Alpina lip maybe

Haha yea I broke em down by models. In the midst of building the monster, I sold my silver 740 DD and bought a 6 speed 540. Well the timing chain guides started making noise and it had a nasty vanos chatter when I bought it. So, it's parked and now being torn down to fix. Bumpers need some work. My X5 is my DD at the moment and I have a nasty rock chip last week and the bumper already needed a little TLC. So I have quite a few things that need a paint shops attention.
O and btw, I don't think the alpina lip will fit. I did a dry fit and man this car is low! It's right on the ground. I don't wanna bust it up on a driveway or something. Then again, it does look good on the car!

I have an Alpina lip I haven't mounted on mine yet either. Considering what the hoods going to look like I think you should put the lip on. Did you see the Mad Max looking E38 with a wide body kit? Not suggesting you should go that far but some tasteful aero on the back of your hot rod wouldn't go amiss.

Very true! I did see that car. Pretty wicked looking I like the wide body kit. Trying to figure out where to put the pipes at the moment. I'm thinking of putting them out the side in the side skirts. Or the sides of the bumper. I want something different.
