Absolutely. However now that I have the hood cut the air vents on top of the hood actually have 2 plastic boxes inside the function for the fresh air vents into the car. The rest of that portion of the hood is wide open. Would be a pretty big hassle to even work that in. I do however want dual air intakes running down both sides of the motor and the cutout will accommodate them very nicely! That's a little further down the road but I have that planned out for later!!

Thanks!! Love the wheels! Actually got them from a fellow member in my area! Along with extremely helpful tips working on my other 7 series lol. I had them on my other 7 previously and actually felt like they made the steering feel a little more responsive! Could have just been the new wheels excitement though haha!

There is no reason not to after the hood was cut IMO. It would make you internet famous in a hurry too.
So....just a small update. I got the tach to read (so it seems) but not consistently. Going with an aftermarket tach now. Will post pics once installed this weekend. Should be going out for another road test this weekend. Made a little headway on the center console cluster too. All working just have to button it all down and put her back together.

Been a while guys. Just a few updates really. Motor is cut quite a bit and doesn't like to sit idle. Sooo....installed a new electric fan in front on the radiator pushing with 2 more in the inside pulling. Seemed to help as well as putting in a lower temperature thermostat. New fuel pump installed under the car by the fuel tank and working like a champ. Newest modification coming is a 4:10 LSD out of an E34. Half shafts already purchased as well as driveshaft for mod. First attempts at breaking her in resulted in amazing sound followed by smoke filled interior haha!!! All the more reason for more gear in the rear!!

Nice work. What'd you decide to do with the hood?

I haven't . It's looking like either a cowl hood :/ or a scoop from a GT350 for clearance. I don't know of any good body shops near me to roll a cowl induction scoop like I would imagine. So I'm still in the air on it.

Something like this would be perfect.

Another small update! I finally got the timing down on the monster and took it out again today. Found the right fuel pressure for the carb and the timing right and had her out and about again today. Well.....thrashed the csb again! So one piece driveshaft it is. Once destroyed I started the rear diff. replacement as well today. I will post pics of the swap in case anyone is interested. But, initial findings are as follows. Picked up an E34 4:10 LSD for dirt cheap. After first test fit I found that the rears are almost exactly the same from side to side. A few mounting mods and she will bolt right in!!!! Ecstatic on the finding and can't wait to test it out!!!!

This weekend saw very little "movement". However, I had my first experience with the E38 wheel bearings. Pain in the ASS!!!
Let me go ahead and say this was not a fun experience. However swapping in a 4:10 LSD I figured why not refresh it all! First dry fit happened today. Removal of half shafts, and wheel bearings proved to be a good days work. Next weekend hope to get fresh bearings and hubs in as well as the driveshaft mounted.
Having the half shafts cut and E34 ends welded on to mount up to the E38 half shaft. Total cost of diff swap is $890 including today's wheel hub and bearing purchase. I'll take that over a 2:93 with a $1500 LSD swapped in any day!!
Still have a little work to do on the driveshaft.

For a 671 you only need a hole.

Doing good! It's on the waiting list at the moment. Getting the new custom half shafts made as well as new rear driveshaft. These guys kind of drag their feet but the quality is really good! Hoping to have both back sometime this week! Once they come back it's just put it back together and test out that 4:10 LSD!!!!

Well half shafts are fixed. Balanced and have the ends to fit the E34 rear now. Monday I'll be having the driveshaft end changed to fit as well. Hopefully by Christmas she will be back in the road. New cam from competition cams is on the way as well.
I will also be doing the tcgs on my 540 this month. Hopefully all of the bimmers will be on the road again by January haha!!
