Owner spent about 10k on maintenance items car shows well and I do know how to repair them.
$14k price seems steep for 154k miles. I bought mine for about $18-19k with only 53k miles on it

What repairs were done by PO in last two years? I'm two years owned on my '02 M5 (now at 140k miles) and have learned a lot. This car has many specific issues that you'll see referenced on M5Board, like cam position sensors (CPS), throttle position sensors (TPS), VANOS, thermostat, fuel pump and much more. That being said I've found my car to be very reliable and exciting to drive. For the car you're looking at I recommend you get a Peake reader (or equivalent) to see what codes if any are stored in the ECU. A generic OBDII scanner will not answer, as it will not display the BMW-specific codes that you need to know. M5Board has a lot of info on how to get these codes and what they mean. Ryan Schultz's YouTube channel E39Source has some excellent DIY videos.
