Just curious as to whether the doors suffer from the same broken wire issues as the trunk lid? I do not get a door open indication on the dash read out when the door is open, and the airbag light is on.
I've not heard/read of issues with those wires. I think BMW used high quality multi-stranded wires for the doors. Your problem could be in the connector at the door. I'd pull it and ensure that the pins are clean. If all look well, I'd disconnect the battery and check continuity for the air bag and the lock actuator switch. The latter is how the car's electronix know that the door is properly shut. Make sure you disconnect the battery whenever dealing with pyrotechnics of an air bag.
Of course, you could have 2 separate issues. I'd have the SRS (air bag system) scanned to find out the specific code.
Yep, ive never seen a door wiring issue. odds are you have 2 seperate issues
