So I finally got my 95 m52b28 swapped e36 down to 14.220 @97mph!!
it's taken some practice and some more modifications but I got it!
Here's my question:
I recently put in a 14.5lb flywheel and I believe that is one of the major improvements to my new ET, 60ft and Trap (Along with my s50 cams, tune and tms shorties)
My question is, I have some funds and figured I'd love a 3.38lsd but they're pretty hard to come by, I know this would probably get me into the high 13's. So being that a 3.38 is hard to come by, would some lighter wheels, Kosei K1s to be specific help my times? My wheels now are 16x7.5 miglia mm2 which are about 20-21lbs, the kosie k1s are 15-16lbs at 16x7. I would likely run my current tires so lets say an ever 4-5lb weight reduction off of each wheel. How much will this help my 1/4?
I recall seeing in the 1/4 N/A archives a 325 running k1s with a pretty good trap and et and alot of folks said the k1's were a great help!
Any info or input?
Thanks!

Buy the wheels now and be ready to buy a 3.38 when one comes up cheap. After selling your 3.15 LSD, you might have only $150 in the 3.38.

Your best bet, honestly..... More seat time. More practice.
With a 14.2 now and a 2.0 or 2.1 60' , you could technically get into the 13's the way you sit. You learn to be consistent with your launches and use that hand brake you got there and wham, your at your goal. If you can shave that down to a 1.8 60', that should shave off 3-4/10ths. You'd be sitting at 13.8-13.9 right there.
Sometimes , all the power in the world, all the best mods don't mean crap if you cant get that 60'-330' down. Also, make sure your running out 1st gear. Lots of guys nail it out the hole, get a good 60' but short shift 2nd and bog. This crushes your 330' which is just as important.
My $0.02 is if you only have $XX dollars to spend, I would spend them on more track time. Wednesday and Friday nights.
Are you spinning 1st gear ?

you won't see any difference going from a 3.15 to a 3.38. with a 225/45/17 tire that will reduce your theoretical top speed from ~130mph to ~121 mph. with your 97mph trap that wouldn't make a lick of difference since either way you're shifting into 4th for only a short time before you cross the finish line.
if you're going to switch your R&P, and this will be a drag car, you should consider something shorter like a 3.73 or a 3.91. both are pretty common.
what size, compound and width rear tires are you running?
I am not spinning first, my fastest run was on saturday so it was mid 90s with a DA of 2200 IIRC, Cooler Temps should help. My Tire PSI was 29. I am currently running a 225/50/16 Toyo Extensa HP All Season they are a 91v and a 360aa UTQG if that matters.
The Kosei k1's I am picking up have Bridgestone Potenza Re760 Sport tires, W Speed Rating and 340aa UTQG. Depending on which tire is lighter I'll likely swap the lighter onto the new wheels on my machine.
