New personal best for me last night. I put new hoosier tires on the car and they are shaking really bad on the top end. On this pass I pedaled the car in 4th trying to stop the shake and got out of it couple hundred feet before the traps. I think I could have went mid 9's last night if I could have turned the boost up and not had to get out of it on every pass. This was at 25 lbs, spring pressure only.

I checked everything in the suspension and its all tight. If I sit under the car and have someone push on the quarter panels the rear end does not move at all. The back end of the car goes into this weird oscillation where one side of the car goes up then the other at a low frequency. It not like a vibration. It feels like the tires are oval shaped. The car still drives straight but its quite scary and its violent enough that it shook out my passenger side mirror glass.
325/50-15 drag radials. 16, 18, and 21 psi. When I test drove it on the new tires I had 25 in them and had no shake at 150.

I just called hoosier and they told me everyone is gone to the US Nationals so there won't be anybody to talk to till tuesday. WTF?
That's the biggest race of the year so most everyone in the drag racing industry will be closed till next week. I'd ditch the radials and go with a full slick they're more forgiving than a radial on a manual car as for the vibration I'd check the driveshaft and axles thoroughly. I had something similar happen to me and it turned out to be a busted u joint in the ds

Its not a driveline vibration. The whole back of the car is oscillating up and down and side to side by several inches. It nuts.

I am thinking hard about the bias ply's as much as I don't want to. I will be going auto this winter anyway. There are only a couple days of racing left and I'm pretty strapped for cash.
I know someone with a set of slicks and fronts, that would probably work something out.
Contact this guy, he is kinda a prick, but never know.

Those same tires have held huge power. I believe this guys ^^ are brand new.

Tell that guy his tires are tiny and the wheels are the wrong bolt pattern. Need something more along these lines

I love love love how my radials drive but I'm getting tired swimming upstream. I think I'm going to bite the bullet on this.
Tires too hot would make car unstable, are you heating them with a huge burnout?
No

Good news, I called jegs who I bought them from and they put me through to one of there techs and I described the situation. They are going to take the tires back on return and even offered to provide the shipping labels for free. I will be buying a set of bias slicks tonight from them. This is why you buy your stuff from a reputable supplier. Jegs and Summit have always treated me well.

Never thought I would ever be giving up my beloved radials lol.

Made the switch to slicks. Got a set of mickey thompson 28x10.5w-15 stiff wall slicks. I mounted them myself on a manual tire changer and glued the beads on the rim with Permatex hi tack, as SOB suggested. I couldn't be happier with them. They hook so much better than the radials its unbelievable and on my car were not unstable at all even with street radials on the fron. With the drag radials I had to slip the clutch way out of the hole with no boost and if the boost came on too hard it would spin. Now I can clutch out way harder and leave with 20 lbs of boost on the launch control. I got booted off the track for not having my nhra licence so only got to make one full pass with launch control. I missed third gear really bad but ran it out anyway.
mounted slick on left, mounted 325/50-15 radials on right

I dunno. Looks to me like e30's were meant to be drag cars.

Going auto should put you into the 8s! I went from running 9.8 with the stock 5 speed to running 9.0 with the glide! I should've done it years ago I would've saved myself allot of headaches!

yeah the goal was always to run mid 9's on the stick and then swap to auto and go for 8's. I think I am only a can of VHT away from mid 9's now. The video above was on a no prep street legal night. They didn't even drag it.

I can't do it with a stick, but an auto should get it done. I'm about tapped out without getting some more power in the car. As it is with a couple pounds more boost I would love to do 9.5x with a 1.2x 60 foot.
These were my runs from yesterday

New best 60 foot time of 1.31. Track was getting very loose after the first couple passes
