    Xpel removal nightmare

    99 z coupe.....

    14 yo xpel in front of rear flare on fender

    was quoted like 500 to remove!!!!..I said to dude.." u r nuts"......he said it could be a night mare.


    welllllll.........Ive put in about 3 hrs ....over 5 days..its a beeeyatch x 10......

    I need to get a steamer.....the plastic blades and goo gone are about worthless......and my fingers are all focked....


    it comes off in 1/8" specs

    If it's from 2002 and it's coming off in tiny pieces, it's 3M film. Only 2 manufacturers made paint protection film in 2002. Avery (who had just started) and 3M. The Avery film from that era had a lifespan of about 1 year, so it's not theirs. XPEL didn't start making film until 2007, so it's definitely not ours. 3M, on the other hand, is notorious for coming off in tiny shards like you are describing when left on past it's useful lifespan.     Pour warm/hot water on it, but not boiling, as you are pulling on it.

    ahhh.......good to know....I do recall I bought it as Xpel....but I may have been misled.......thank you
