If it's from 2002 and it's coming off in tiny pieces, it's 3M film. Only 2 manufacturers made paint protection film in 2002. Avery (who had just started) and 3M. The Avery film from that era had a lifespan of about 1 year, so it's not theirs. XPEL didn't start making film until 2007, so it's definitely not ours. 3M, on the other hand, is notorious for coming off in tiny shards like you are describing when left on past it's useful lifespan.
