The ATE number is 10.0206-0079.4. Thanks !

PS: Am I looking on the right place?
That's not the part number you're concerned with ... either the BMW part number, or the number on the module is what you want, and I think you need a 2003+, the earlier ones are MK20 and useless for a swap ... but someone can confirm probably.

Thanks, I was looking at the motor number. The ECU is an 813. Thanks!

    (apologies for carpetbombing threads, but...)

Is there a recipe for coding the MK60 standalone (i.e. not in an E46) using NCS Expert?

I don’t believe any coding is necessary for the ABS to function correctly in a standalone installation.

Nope. Wire it up, bleed the system , turn on car and drive.

I am planning to retrofit MK60 in my E30, and I dont like that the rear sensors from e46 are shorter than the E30 ones. In other words I will have to grind the trailing arm in order to get the correct spacing.
Does anyone know if I can install front ABS sensors as rear ones (I can just do a spacer to get the proper spacing).
Or can I use Z3m abs sensors (P/N: 34521164474) they are with grey connectors (not sure if they are compatible)

I'm pretty sure someone took the grey connectors, and easily modded them to fit.

Use the late Z3 non M ABS sensors in rear that had the mk60- blue connectors. You’ll need to grind the sensor mount tab not the trailing arm.
It's not speed that kills, it's the speed difference that does. Obviously you aren't going fast enough.

Is that a sensor that will plug into the E36 coupe chassis harness?

What about the Yaw sensor install locatio? Does it have to be under the driver's seat or it can be located somewhere in the engine bay as well?

It needs to oriented a certain way, but other than that, probably does not matter much. I'd put it on the tranny tunnel. And it's only used for stability control anyway, not ABS

Will the ABS report a fault without it?

No. It will not report a fault (at least mine does not).

Isnt the yaw sensor necessary for some of the ABS features (besides DSC) like the function to reduce the braking power of the rear inner wheel when cornering, also disabling the ABS when the car spins?

that's part of stability control. ABS is exactly that … if a wheel locks up, ABS pulses to reduce braking pressure. It does not care if you are turning or spinning. Works great without it in our touring car.

    Abs

Question. Just finished a LS3 swap. Engine harness and ecu are out. All the remaining harness and brakes and sensors are still present. Will my ABS still function? 2002 M3

If it has the mk60 abs I don't see why not

Yes, I tested by trying to lock the brakes up on a dirt road and yes the ABS still works.

Thanks for your response. Now I'm trying to figure out an alternative way to get traction control.

Traction control will need the DME I think … since it uses the computer to control throttle and spark. I don't think it'll ever work with the LS DME. Standalone, for sure, but not with the stock GM ECU.

Ok, I got it running in my e30 with M54 swap. Now I am struggling with recoding the MK60 module (its 818 version if it matters). I can connect fine with INPA howerver I am not able to read it with NCS-Expert. It is throwing "VIN is Faulty" and lots of COAPI-2020 errors. I assume they are because the NCS Expert is trying to read all modules for E46 and I dont have them in my E30. Can anyone advise how to handle this?
P.S. in case someone is interested, e46 330i rear abs sensors (blue connectors) fit e30 trailing arms perfectly with just 2mm spacers

what are you trying to recode? Don't need to do anything. INPA can read codes and values on the MK60, and that's all you need to do. Ignore the VIN error. As long as you're seeing wheel speeds, it should be good to go.

ABS itself is working fine, but speed signal output is quite off due to different size of tyres. Also wanted to try to get the dsc working (still thinking on a way to install the steering angle sensor) and also just to look at the possible settings

Yeah, I don't think you can program anything in that version. Only the 813 is programmable I think, and I don't think it's done with NCS expert (I'd love tp be proven wrong, but seems this is a black art that only like 3 people know how to do … lol)

I have been going through all of the MK60 E36 threads and I can't find a definitive answer. I recently scored an 817 unit and want to get it in my current E36M seat-time chassis.

Z3 3.0i booster + E46 M3 master cylinder ; does this combo work and match best for the stock E36M master cylinder?

OR what is the shimming option for running an E46M master on the E36M booster? Ultimately looking for easiest/cheapest way to run the pressure sensors, keeping them in the master cylinder seems to be the most KISS solution.

S54 Z3M parts are in close to Tilton pedalbox budget.. thinking if the above combination 'works' as a decent budget setup I won't have to go full Tilton..

So there is conflicting info on the brake light signal to the MK60 unit. Some guides say to ground the signal when brakes applied, one says ground when brakes NOT applied and someone else said they applied 12V when brakes applied. Which one is it?

Also I just installed a Z3 booster from a car that had DSC and it seems to fit properly into the E36.
