Ok I am trying to run the least amount of spacer needed with my 255 tire setup. My question is what clearance is needed between the sidewall and the strut body? As of right now I only have 3-4mm.
I figured I would ask before gave it a go and mess something up?
tire will clearances itself......
i have similar clearance, there isnt going to be a 100% answer here as all tires are different, pressures, wheels, temps, tire stretch ect. all you can do is see if you make contact and how much of a deal that contact is. swiping the lettering off a tire i find to be semi acceptable. or at least harmless in my experience,
i think those apex et35 9.5 inch wheels with 255 would not be an issue with paper thin strut clearance. but the stock e36 m3 8.5 wheels with a 245 not so much.
Send it!
I'll get infrequent very minor rubbing on my strut perch at ~2mm clearance, static. It may be caused when snarf gets thrown around and in between the tire and strut.
Either way, it would only be a problem if it spun the perch adjuster.
At 4mm, I've never had any sign of rubbing.
The clearance between tire and strut should be relatively fixed, so as long as you have a few millimeters, you should be fine.
Thanks guys I will defiantly give it a go then
