The chrome window trim around the rear passenger window on my e46 looks milky, but I've washed it multiple times and it hasn't gone away. It is only on those two pieces of trim, as the drivers side and the chrome around the passenger front window is in perfect condition. Anyone know what would cause this and if it's able to be restored?
the sun causes it, super common. Its plated aluminium and not real chrome. Your options are either paint it or replace it.

It is clear coated aluminum so you can polish the surface to bring back the original finish.
