Scanned engine code. P1633 still there. P0420 still pending. Limp mode seemed to stop immediately after changing throttle body, hopefully it stays away.

Okay, but I am worried that those two codes came back after swapping the TB out. Just want to make sure you cleared all codes and reset the adaptions?

I reset all codes and reset adaptations to the best of my ability. No codes have come back after a few miles. I'm still driving in the neighborhood because I'm afraid it'll go into limp mode again so I'm taking it easy on her lol

Ah, okay no worries then. Take it out on the streets, or even the highway for you need to test and confirm that was the problem.

Now I've got a pending P1352, which is supposedly a misfire code. I just started up and didn't seem like it was missing st all. Maybe my car is just being moody and delirious.

Everything has stabilized now. Just have my lone P0420 again. Limp mode fix for $40 plus 2-3 hours of my time installing it.

Wish I could figure out my P0420 issue. Spark plug defoulers maybe just to get rid of it, as most aftermarket cats are iffy on longevity and the expense of everything. I've no symptoms from my P0420 so why not.

How old are those sensors? You can swap them to see if the code follows.

I got them from Amazon for about 75 bucks each, and those are the Bosch branded one. I have done the fronts ones on the wagon when it his 100k last year, and this year I will be doing the back ones. I didn't have any codes, just wanted to get rid of the aged sensors is all.

As for the cheap cats, well they should last 4 years. Most cats come with a warrenty around 4 years or 50k miles.

I price matched my fcp euro post o2 sensor for about $64 from another website. Pretty nice how they do that.

Aaand P1633 limp home is back. As well as P1092 pre-cat too lean. E46s are a real pain in the ass. I really need to get myself into a Japanese car.

I guess on the bright side, instead of a P0420, I now have have a P0430. Thinking that I need to buy a second O2 sensor as both were bad, not just one. I think.

The E46 looks great, but if my DME needs to be replaced, the entire car is pretty much toast. That is beyond stupid.

Yeah, that does suck, but you maybe able to contact this guy for help: Abel

That link (his username) on my Tapatalk app just brings me to a thread on how to remove the rear deck for whatever reason.

Haven't posted in this thread in a while. I'm still battling limp mode issues, even after downloading INPA and attempting to download Rheingold ISTA+.

Well, I'm now going to fix my coolant leak. That I can do, apparently. When I did a cooling system overhaul last year, I damaged my expansion tank bracket. As usual, my E46 automatic transmission cooler thermostat broke inside the bracket. I used needle nose pliers and I damaged the bracket (thermostat holder) while attempting to remove it. After a year, I now am leaking from it.

Today I picked up a free bracket today from a local enthusiast who just left it in the bracket (thankfully).

As simple as it was, I successfully removed it by using a zip tie, believe it or not. Much more easily done.

Replaced the ET bracket and o-rings. Tried starting the car and will not start. It started just fine as I drove it into the garage (excluding the stupid throttle issue). It clicks but doesn't start now. Didn't seem like the battery. For whatever reason, I went poking around the EWS synch/reset in INPA and now there is whining noise in front of where your feet go in the driver's foot well when trying to turn it on. Pretty positive I messed up the EWS synching. However, my symptoms sounded as if it was an EWS issue from the start.

Many others have had their EWS go out of synch and had click but no starts exactly like mine. So I've gone in and tried resynching by going into E46, engine, MS43, shift F6 brings me to EWS options and this is what I've got. After doing both multiple times, it won't start.

Humm, have you tried to access the EWS to see what codes are stored? At times it will lock-out the key and no matter how many times you attempt to re-align them, it won't start.

This is the only EWS related access I've got on my INPA AFAIK. I believe I did have an EWS error on the general error codes though.

Battery was definitely low, as the other threads mentioned. Charged it overnight and only went up less than 50%. However, that gave me enough power to reset the EWS and start her up. As far as I'm seeing the leak is gone. Haven't had limp mode but have only driven like four miles.

I wonder if EWS issues can cause limp mode.

No, but a bad battery can cause limp mode. So time to look at replacing the battery, I have found Interstate to be a good alternative to OEM.
