From 2500 grit color sand to glossy shine?

I've got a question on product recommendations. I have an 07 335i TiAg in color. I did some paint chip repair on the hood and sanded a good portion of it with 1500 grit followed by 2500 grit. I now need to polish it back to a glossy shine. I have a Porter Cable 5" DA polisher, and a Chemical Guys BUFX 102 HEX5 medium cutting pad - Orange (see link below) and used Turtle Wax Polishing Compound (Autozone). It's coming along relatively well - the sanding marks are all polished out and I'm getting a decent shiny finish, but not as shiny as the rest of the car - its still just a little dull. I followed this with the same polisher and pad with Meguire's Swirl-X and it improved, but I still see plenty of swirls, and it's still a little dull.

I suspect that I'm not using the right combo of pad/polish. What would you guys suggest?

This is the pad I used:

    Thanks.

You now need to go to finer combination of pad and polish. Your amazon link shows the blue, black or red pads as a softer (finer) next step and the Amazon link calls those three pads 'finishing' pads. You'll need one of those.
You need a finer polish now too. There are quite a few to choose from and I'm partial to Meguiar's M205. Usually guys use M100, M101 or M105 as a cutting polish then finish with M205. So, by the sounds of it, you've already done the 'cutting' phase so M205 is your next step.

Menzerna, a German company, also makes a full line of great polishes too and perhaps a few fellows will give you some alternatives.

Thanks John, I'll get finer pads and polish and see how it goes...
