INPA In English

I tried searching for the steps, but seems like the threads I found were of people having problems pulling codes.

My INPA seems to be working fine, but my menus are all in German. Since it is already installed, so I just need to go into the inpa.ini file and change the language to English?

I just don't want to mess up the application by doing something stupid.

You are correct, the language setting is in INPA.ini - make sure you set it up to use the correct files - English or English.metric and depending on the version of INPA you are running, the language may be spelled as Englisch.

I have checked all the .ini files for both versions of INPA. The main menus are all in English. But submenus (like when I go into engine diagnostics and the menu is all in German. I just don't get it because all the ini files show englisch.

You can set the language in inpa.ini.

Check if the folders contain .ENG files. If there are only .GER files, changing the language won’t work.

I set the .ini file with English and I do have .eng files but for some reason only the inpa home screen is in English. As soon as I select e46, all the selection icons on the bottom turn to german

You need to reinstall EDIBIAS.

When installing it, choose properly the configuration :
(took the image randomly on Google)



Choose BMW Group rectification programs USA or UK and you'll have INPA in full english.

I was leaning towards trying the install again. I selected UK last time, I'll try USA this evening after work. Thanks for all the advice, truly appreciated!

All a reinstall does is change the inpa ini, iirc.

Partially true. It also adds any available English .prg files into C:\ediabas\ecu\ folder. These files are responsible for error memory being in English or German.

I have put together as many English .prg into this pack as possible for whoever wants to snoop.

Did a full reinstall, tried the USA selection, still only getting the initial screen in English. Any suggestions anyone?

But on a serious note I did figure it out this morning. For anyone else that may have this issue in the future, on the disk there was a folder EC-APPS that you copy onto the C drive, this is not the correct one. Inside the folder marked Step 1 there is another folder labeled EC-APPS... this is the one to copy to the C drive! I am not a tech guy so unfortunately I dont know the differences between the files, however I can tell you that by saving the one in the Step 1 folder it worked for me. Hope maybe one day this helps someone else out. And to everyone that helped me, thank you very much!
