Shop checked the alignment and they said it is needed. The car had half a tank of gas and was NOT weighted, 2000 E38 sport stock size wheels and tires. Wondering how tragic these specs are:
Front:
Left:
-0.4 camber
6.4 caster
0.31 toe
Right
-0.7 camber
5.8 caster
0.27 toe
0.02 steer ahead?
Rear:
Left:
-1.7 camber
-0.11 toe
Right:
-2.6 camber
-0.12 toe
0.00 thrust angle
Thanks for your input!
I'm concerned about the front - that's a LOT of toe. You'll have no tires left at the end of the day! Also, I'm concerned about how different left and right caster are from each other, and camber is borderline too different as well. Mine has always had an equal -1.0 camber in the front and I think +6.5 caster equal on both sides. You want about +.1 toe if you want toe out, nothing more.
The rear toe is pretty good, but the camber is way too negative at -2.6. It must be extremely visible on that side!
The humor in this is 0.00 thrust angle is perfect, and very desirable. I have no idea how all the mismatches added up to that! I'd investigate the condition of your suspension, though, because only toe and rear camber is adjustable.
Thanks!
Just an FYI... I did have a quality alignment put in the car. WOW! it is completely different car. Money well spent.
Yes a good alignment is well worth the money... in tires.
