keep the ediabas from stand alone installer 7.0.3 and the one from bmw standard tools installed but rename the folders in c drive, and change C:\Rheingold\Ediabas\Bin to OLD_BIN and install bmw standard tools again and set installation path to C:\Rheingold\Ediabas or do i have to completely uninstall both ediabas.

also this is my k+dcan cable. you guys see anything wrong with it?

Read several above posts...there absolutely no reason to changing or renaming anything. If your Windows system hasn't protested when you plug the cable in...then, it's okay or if it does, you can try FTDI drivers 2.10.00 or 2.12.00 for 32bits system...they won't work for 64bits.

    Ok here is an update.

i updated the ftdi drivers to 2.10.00 and my K+Dcan cable still doesn't work. so iono if having the latest drivers messed it up or something. However i tried my vagcom kkl 409.1 cable and i was able to do the vehicle identification process so i can conclude that the k+Dcan cable could be a faulty one or somehow i messed it up. now my next question is what is the difference between the two cables? are there limits to what the vagcom kkl 409.1 can do vs the k+dcan cable? do i have to do anything differently?

tested on an 06 bmw 325i.

Be sure when you removed the previous driver to install the 2.10.00 you had checked this box with the green arrow in the middle below...see pic. You can check 328 Power 04 on the cable differences.

Odd to see some cables work with the newest FTDI drivers (2.12.16) and some do not, and a downgrade fixes it. How annoying.

I had to used FTDI driver 2.12.16 because of Windows 7 64bits which I have to manually upgrade; however, I am not sure my FTDI-K+DCAN cable totally working as I don't get the voltage info for KL 15 and KL 30.

I always tell people to solder a bridge between pins 7 & 8 and that usually solves the cable issue(s). Not sure why it isn't suggested more.

Hi Just had the same problem reading out VIN on 2010 E83 with ISTA+ and K+DCAN cable bought from ebay. Weirdly enough, it did work on an 06 E90 (reading out VIN)
I have no idea what is going on with either cable or ISTA, just assuming the cable is not faulty simple because it works on an E90. So does ISTA

COuld anyone shred light on this? Thanks in advance

I got same error “The vehicle could not be identified. Please check the access to the vehicle and check wheher testing-analysis-diagnosis has been activated”. I installed ISTA-D v4.02.30 and I'm trying to connect to f30 (2014) using ENET cable. I have no problem with ESYS or Dr.GINI with this ENET cable.
Do you have any idea ?

    Same problems here.

    Win10, X64
    K+DCan cable
    BMW X3 E83 2007 (facelift)

Cable driver CDM v2.12.26 WHQL Certified (latest)

I get the same error: the vehicle cannot be identified.

INPA is "working" - it detects the battery and engine, but no communication is possible.

Another problem is that I use a Macbook, with USB-C and adapter from USB-C to USB.

    I hate this...

Does it have to be COM9? I thought it was determined by the computer. If the computer has only one USB port, it is supposed to be COM1, right?

It doesn't really matter on the IP addresses or remote host, since you will be configuring your ISTA / D to run Ediabas directly through OBD profile (unless you are running in Virtual Machine?). Just make sure your cable is COM9 in Device Manager now.

COM number has nothing to do with how many USB ports your computer has. COM number is a virtual number for USB devices.
I was saying *for that specific user* that it needs to be COM9 because his setting is at COM9.

The COM number setting in C:\EDIABAS\BIN\OBD.ini MUST match the COM port number from Device Manager. Doesn't really matter which COM number, but as long as either one is changed to match, then it will work. Personally I wouldn't set it over COM9, because some programs use a single digit number.

It will probably be better if you install BMW Standard Tools 2.12 (easily found on google) to make sure all your ediabas files are present and correct..

    But here's my OBD.ini

    obd.ini.txt

**You must rename it back to OBD.ini from "OBD.ini.txt" I had to add '.txt' extension to be able to post it here.**

Sorry I missed your messages, been quite busy here.
The ISTA-D download should include sqlite db files. They are roughly 9gb, that unpack to about double that. The ENGB and OTHER are minimally necessary.

Lightbulb Are YOU aware that Rheingold USA was the first ones who build the ISTA software?

Are YOU aware that Rheingold USA are the ones who build DSS then Rheingold from the beginning and currently owns the copyrights for it?
It's 2018 right now and they just released their 2018 late model edition, still won't believe it ? go visit them on site at their physical office at 3450 Triumph Blvd , Lehi UT 84043, USA.
I know this is pretty old thread, I am writing this reply to show some appreciation for the the Rheingold USA folks who helped me with an authentic high quality licensed software after I bricked my M6, they helped me to get it back ON after 20 minutes of using their certified ISTAD then ISTAP, when you spread a word , spread it with knowledge and evidence please.

What are you on about? Rheingold USA built nothing and own nothing. They are simply reselling the same pirated versions that can be found online.
