Those cast log manifolds are awesome.

    Are they steel or iron?

Hopefully they don't have the resources to track him down.

I think OP realized it wasn't economically viable to reproduce.

If your plan is to have a casting replicated, then I will warn you that you will have to accommodate for material shrinkage (cast iron I believe is around 1%) so attempting a straight duplicate will give you problems.

If you want the cast manifolds to work for various port geometries (for various V12 engines) then I suggest you redesign the whole manifold at the flange.

Put enough material that you can easily configure your bolt/ stud placement & cast the runners (at least for the first .750" with extra thickness, so the ports can be selectively machined to the port type & spacing you require.

With cast iron (and the E31 in general) the idea of weight reduction has officially been thrown out the window, so the extra material in the manifolds will be little to no concern.

If manifolds are to be made from scratch every time there is no way kit will be affordable imo.
This IS the issue with coming up with a kit that is affordable. I have a spare set of original Dinan 850 cast manifolds we attempted to replicate. Not cost effective and finding someone to cast them. Also, we realized the legal implications that could arise. I disagree with one above comment- if SC kits are 8-13k, the TT should be around 10k? How about the other way around?! I would take any turbo over a SC, jmo.

And- for anyone froggy, I think Dinan will do your car! Last I heard- and could be incorrect- $37k for the whole Stage 2 kit....suspension,trans,etc.

My 535D will be dropped off in a week @ Dinan facility for R&D of new upgrades and I will inquire about the Twin Turbo and report back.

again, could be wrong but I don't think they will sell you the kit. Alex- let us know what you find out. I was thinking of sending mine out there for a refresh and checkout.

I have a hard time believing that they will still produce or install the TT setup. When I called looking for information and parts, I was told they have almost nothing left and couldn't support current owners in any way. I had to have some parts custom made.

If I have a stock V12, I think I'd go for the Sc kit and be done with it at this point.

    Good luck,

Update, confirmed.....They will not reproduce and will not able/capable to support TT setup. However, he got me I contact with Steve Dinan secretary to see if he would be interested in relaunching it.

Side note, got a loaner 340i Dinan Tuned......And Lord sweet Jesus it's a little monster.

That sounds about right. There is no way they could replicate the system now for under $15k-$20k per setup. The $8.5k modern supercharged and intercooled setup is your best option.

More interesting would be a offering a near-exact reproduction of the Alpina 6.0/DINAN 7 intake manifold setup that ended up being pulled in the early 2000. No guilt in reproducing it considering it's not particularly unique and is made via honing existing ones.

Snapping some pictures of those manifolds for reference would be nice.

that, ported heads, and a tune to take advantage of these would do wonders.

did the Alpina V12s come with more aggressive cams?

Exactly what the Dinan Engineer said....at Least 15k. While back I was considering going the SC route, but after seeing some of our own forum members having issues (that are very technically savvy) I decided why not at least look into a sorted out system.

I believe that the system for a stock M70 is well sorted out at this point. Those that were having trouble had aftermarket cams and other such parts which made tuning very difficult. I could be wrong... hopefully, others will chime in.

The 8 is a completely different animal with 400+ hp and is a blast to drive.

Rear mounted turbos that take the place of your mufflers. Alot more room and less engine heat to deal with and alot cheaper than having to get those manifolds that you would need to run them under the hood.
