yeah, bj, the MRoadster boot is just a means to an end. . .so us 96+ guys can eliminate the ASC throttle body.

Now, you shouldn't be complaining, since YOU get to run a bigger HFM, can make real software changes, cams, blah blah

    Hey BJ,
Looks like you've been busy with the mods since I last saw ya in San Antonio! What's going on down in Texas nowadays? Not much happening up here in Kansas.

I doubt the gain is much(2HP?) but I have a bored throttle body and intake so I want to take advantage of my mods. I don't even use my ASC in the winter with blizzaks.

Does anyone know of any bad things that could happen by eliminating the ASC throttle body and leaving ASC on?

ok thanks...I guess I am not quite ready for that yet.

Frayed, Is there a problem with vehicle inspections with the ECIS? I have heard of people with problems passing with intakes. I am not sure if they were in TX......

alp2: i've had a friend with an m3 in houston fail visual inspection b/c of his cone-style intake. i dunno why. prob b/c of all the ricers there. he took it somewhere else where they didn't care about the intake. i guess it depends on the inspector.

alp, no problems here in TX. We ain't in Cali.

nodemgr, removal of the ASC throttle body involves electrical disonnection of the actuator as well as mechanical disconnection of the cable that operates it (unless you remove the ASC throttle body from the intake path and leave the cable and actuater connected to it). Disconnection of the actuater neuters the entire ASC system, (brakes, ASC throttle, timing retardation).

    Check out http://www.geocities.com/doug_peete/ASCMod.htm for reference.

Unless you goto some hardass place you can get away with anything.. I paid 5 bucks to have my f-body passed for the smog test which it failed pretty badly

I got my last smog/inspection done at a carwash.. was some 20 year old kid who did it.. I bet I could have had a dead body in the back and him not care
