2016 Canadian GP @ Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Interestingly enough Pirelli and teams have decided to use the US tyres again at this upcoming track. Soft (yellow), Super soft (red), and Ultra Soft (purple). Will be interesting to see how long will the teams last on US and on SS tyres. Keep in mind of huge stresses on braking performance here. Mercedes have had few technical braking issues few years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think fuel consumption is also relatively high here. So there's a possibility of conserving tyres but with more pitstops available now I don't see why would they conserve both fuel and tyres. Hopefully, this should be an interesting race.

This will be a tough weekend for Mclaren for sure, as I suspect the lack of speed will make it difficult for them, but may make up for it in the twisties with their good and excellent aero/chassis package.

I think Force India might have another great chance here while Williams will probably fall behind yet again. They just don't have the speed they used to have before.

Not so sure on how Ferrari will perform here after witnessing quite a number of engine failures already, but knowing how good the new Renault Power Unit is, RBR should end up in top three while Mercs should have no problem in dominating this race. Unless if the two love birds do something again that will hurt their championship in the end.

I love the Canadian GP - looking forward to seeing RBR take the fight to Mercedes. Hopefully Ferrari is well in the mix as well.

Make sure you get the tifosi in order!

Yeah, I'm another fan of the Gilles V GP.

Would like to see Ferrari take a step forward this weekend*.... but not going to be placing money on it.

Cloudy and chilly here, looks like it's going to be on and off rain this weekend. Going to try to see Bottas, Grosjean, and Boullier at Casino Montreal soon.

Walked over to the circuit yesterday, it's in a really nice public park just like Monza.

    Rainy and windy

Caught Grosjean and Boullier at the Casino

Off to the Thursday pit walk now, 47 degrees with rain and wind so hopefully it's quiet

Rosberg and Hamilton on the front row are going to push each other off line into T1. This means Vettel gets by and goes on to win the race. Hamilton goes into the Wall of Champions.

    Haas scores double points.

    (hopefully)

From your keyboard to God's ears.

Hoping for a strong race from Williams too, as usual.

Do you have a press pass or can anyone attend these (or buy tickets to them)?

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm doubting Williams will be competitive unless RBR, Mercedes, and Ferrari all take each other out or have mechanical issues, which is a shame after last year.

I'm really interested in seeing how the McLaren turbo upgrade turns out though. Hopefully they can stay with/ahead of Williams.

Yeah, not expecting much from Williams. Mclaren have a new turbo? They've got some upgrades for this race? I'd be interested to see their performance.

Grosjean at the casino was open to the public along with the pit walk today (at Monza last year you had to have a 3 day pass).

Just got back from the pit walk which was incredible. Pics on my blog:

FYI the cars are noticeably louder in person this year.

Ferrari have so far used 28 tokens and are left with only 4 more for the remainder of the season.

Mercedes have used 21 tokens with 11 still left on the table.

Honda used 20 tokens. 12 remaining.

Renault with 11 tokens with 21 remaining.

Pretty impressive reliability from the French manufacturer I have to say and they have certainly picked up some good hp, while Ferrari are falling behind. They've already had few turbo / engine blowouts. Honda are doing a lot better too.

Aren't they allowed to fix reliability issues without using tokens though?
BMWs are fun in the snow too...

I think for reliability improvement purposes you don't use/lose any tokens but for performance upgrades then yes you do.

I hope this will be 1 epic race! and really hope Ferrari's new turbo advantage will play dividends over a race distance, else it will be a Merc procession, but the battle after them should be interesting as its close between Ferrari, RBR, Williams look good - but i feel they will fade away over a race distance.

Vettel was disappointed post quali and his radio conversation said it all! This is turning out to be one hell of a season!

Edit - I have a feeling Vettel and Lewis really like to rattle Nico, or make fun of him during press conferences....

The cars are pleasantly loud again, video I took outside Senna corner today. Much much better than last year, up close they have that "holy ****" factor again.

Vettel is so close to Hamilton, should be a great race tomorrow.

Vettel's attitude re:Rosberg during press conferences is probably the one single thing (there are others) that has made me warm up to him.
