Yeah I've been meaning to put together a build thread. Just need to gather all my pics and info. I'll be working on that soon. Here's a vid from a couple months back in Orlando FL (I'm in South fl) https://youtu.be/vAqB_2LwsXg

I have an S52 swap in my car (M52 originally). I have used both the original M52 DME and the S52 DME to run the motor with no codes and all sensors working. The wiring harness was not touched just the motor and the DME were swapped.
An obd2 m52 harness is the same as the s52 harness, and both DMEs can be used interchangeably aside from the specific tune for each. I know this for a fact, as I've got an s52 harness running my Ti with an m52 DME and an s52 tune.

How about m52 323is which only has 2 o2 sensors? Same pinout as m52 and s52?
OK, I took a closer look and found out where I went wrong. Someone at Alldata accidentally accidentally pasted the M44 wiring diagrams into the S52 section, and I hadn't paid close enough attention to realize that I was looking at a pinout with only four injector and four coil outputs. Thank you (and the others who chimed in) for setting the record straight there.
The 323 M52 looks like it's the same too.
Yes, although the sensor will need an external controller like an Innovate LC-2.
We support Racepak dashes no problem. The new IQ3S just needs to be wired to our CAN output; earlier versions need a CAN to V-net adapter.

So bmw m3 s52 obd2 is a go?
I don't see why not!

I think you will be surprised how close the tunes will be between an S52 and an M52 with the usual S52 cams. Once you reset the displacement in the basic settings you will actually probably have to add a small amount of fuel to the VE map and that should be about it. That's just my prediction, could be wrong.

And of course megasquirt is open, so you guys will be able to share timing and fuel maps, or even the whole tune file with each other.
Yea, it's not hard at all to get a basemap on a standalone if you know some basics. I guessed at everything on my initial AEM Infinity startup and it was perfectly fine to drive around and go lightly into boost with no O2 feedback. With O2 feedback it would have been fine to start beating on it straight away (but I wouldn't do that, but it's possible).
People need to realize on a standalone you can SEE everything the computer is doing. It's not a black box like a stock computer. If it's a little lean in an area - put more fuel in - solved. If it knocks a little, take some timing out - etc.
almost all m52's will have s52 cams in it. I quick change to the displacemnt setting in megasquirt and the same map will be extremely close. Ive used my s52 cam m52 map on alot of s52 cars and its very very close.

Your car will be a moster on MS. Timed launch control and all sorts of fun stuff for an auto.
Keep your gauges. Just add the 5v out put from your wideband controller to the EGO pin of the megasquirt. Done deal.
