You're right, they should have them if you go with OBD2...

What is your reasoning behind blending? There are extra inputs for a 2nd IAT for sure.

Don't know. I've spoken with this dude that tunes lots of high end cars. Ferrari's and such. He mentioned this practice to me briefly. This was way way in the beginning of me thinking I want to try to play with a standalone. So, I could be completely off. He travels and tunes for a bunch of race teams.
I'll have to speak to him again when he shows up at my shop.
I've seen his work, quite impressive. These cars he is playing with are worth 5-10x my house is. Anyway, he has a house in NH and I take care of his inspections for him. Basically lick and stick. High end Mercedes and brand new dulley. His wifes got some crazy caddy. Anyway, he mentioned on turbo cars to blend pre and post throttle body IAT sensors in boost. Something to the effect of OEM sensor reaction time and meth spraying and timing .
Again, I could have this ass backwards. I'll have to ask I guess. Probably best to disregard all of that unless it somewhat makes sense.

Current firmware only uses one IAT sensor for air density corrections. If you wanted to get really fancy, you could use an extra sensor to blend between two separate VE tables.

The OBD2 IAT sensor is in a pretty good location for most forced induction applications - it's in the intake manifold, but the composite manifold is a lot less prone to give false high readings than on a metal manifold.

I'd pick one up except nothing on my car is stock enough to make use of it. Though, I could put it on my daily... hrm. Has me thinking. I do miss MS.

Here's exactly what's going to happen. 6-8 months from now, these things will be on our door steps. Then 5nails/SG2800/and E30kid will decide "this seems like a good time to all take a break from the forums."
They will all be MIA at least long enough for us to run 35° timing with 200°+ intake temps and blow our sh&% up.

Thanks a lot guys, you guys cut me, you really cut me.

On a serious note, the old style "solder yourself" megasquirts like I still run are a bit finicky to get setup. Especially if your doing a lot of board mods like mine to add extra features. In almost every case it takes some trial an error to get all the wiring right and get all the sensors calibrated and reading right, get all the outputs working the way they should, get a reliable connection on the laptop, ect... ect... ect... That's where people have a hard time and many people get overwhelmed and back out of it because its just over there head to troubleshoot the hardware. They they sell it cheap and tell everyone megasquirt doesn't work.

BUT... once you have the hardware setup right and everything is coming in and going out the way it should, it is so easy to tune a car that you honestly just won't believe it. There is absolutely nothing to it at all. If all your hardware is working properly it takes literally an hour for a person to tune the fuel, idle, and accel enrichments to have the car running properly and safe. Even for a first timer it is very intuitive. Thats why this is going to be a great thing because the MS3 pro module will have everything you need built in and you won't need to build a harness, so you bypass all the painful hardware setup and get to jump straight to tuning.

And of course the best part is that you won't be limited to the basemap that will come preloaded. Once someone gets one set up for a few days and gets it running smooth and everything working nice they can share there tune file on here and anyone can load it and use it. It doesn't have to be a secret anymore. My tune file won't be compatable with an ms3 pro but I would be more than happy to share any of my maps or settings.

LOL - I wouldn't worry about that. My original MSnS-E M50 base map still lives on. I will get PMs or email asking for input on some MS build and notice it's already running my settings lol. It floats around somehow. Organic.

Megasquirt is awesome. Been running a turbo m52 on it for 3 years.

PNP is a great idea. If I build another e36 I will pick one up

Planned on putting ms3x on my obd2 m52 using your BOB anyway but if a pnp comes up id probably do that instead. However I'm a dealer so i wonder if i can still be on the list.

will cost between $1199 and $1399
Lets look at the bottom line here.
People who are old BMW owners are cheap and thrifty. Five year ago even at $500 the M20 PNP did not take off. Miller war chip stalled also, he said half of the technical support calls are: "my laptop battery is dead, what do I do?"
Even if product was cheap, the user still has to know basic engine management tuning and concept. There is always some software bug plaguing the MS because software is always BETA.

    People want cheap and easy.

Literally the furthest thing from the truth, and once again, literally the most counter productive post. The m20 pnp did very well and almost every modified m20 has one and it works great.
