Would you be able to make more of these flywheel spacers? I'm planning to get the adapter plate mentioned above soon (already have the 420g, pedals, slave, master cylinders, etc.)
Also, pardon the ignorance, but what is a "button flywheel?"

Have you found a solution for the flywheel spacer? Also, how does that transmission adapter plate look, decent quality?

I've emailed the manufacturer thru eBay and they indicated they are not currently making such a flywheel or spacer for the flywheel. Based on some searching on the net, they previously made a spacer that could be used with the E39 M5 240mm clutch setup, but it doesn't look like it's still available.
This looks like the adapter that is needed and its offered by the same company that makes the trans adapter: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/BMW-M60-M62-...item2ac112bdc8

Yeah I found that too, but the link I had was from an expired listing. Maybe because I was searching in the US version of eBay...I can't quite figure out how this works though. Maybe the flywheel has to have its standard center piece pressed out and this pressed into its place?
I was hoping I could reuse the E39 540i flywheel and clutch that came with my donor transmission, but I'm not thinking that's possible because of the need for a spacer.
I think the spacer bolts to the back of the flywheel so trans input shaft can fit into a pilot bearing pressed into spacer. Input shaft is not long enough with adapter to fit into pilot bearing in the back of crank.
I'm gonna revive this thread once more. I plan on doing this swap with my E38. I guess I'll be the one to finally give an answer to it all. I'll try going the flywheel spacer route, as that seems to be an easier/cheaper solution than getting a new flywheel made.
I've actually decided to go the route of M73 swapping my E31 and manual swapping that instead of my E38. That's just for now, however. I will be doing an E38 manual swap after this one, but it's pretty much the same steps no matter what.
It's a bit involved, as I'll have to go standalone and get a bunch of other stuff done on the car, but yes, progress is being made. Still drawing up the spacer, but I've got the trans adapter.
PNC has a flywheel designed for the swap so spacer is not needed.

I am in the process of this swap has well, I have opted to use the flywheel and clutch from the S54 (M3). You have to convert the twin mass flywheel to a single mass by drilling out the rivets and separating the two halves.
The bolts supplied fit into the remaining holes then the flywheel sits over the recess on the adapter/spacer. They also provided an extension for the input shaft.
Mark.
I just found this newer video on a Chevy trans swap for an M70: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhGZTwzIBsw
https://transmissionadapters.com/col...o-manual-trans Kit is not cheap, approx $1500 which includes adapter, hub, clutch, and bell-housing.

This fella bolted up an E46 M3 6 spd to an E32 V12 using adapter kit but he didn't say which kit. The only adapter kit for the M70/ 420G I am familiar with complete with flywheel and clutch is from PMC Motorsports. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPvLWcEL6ww
Thanks for replying That I see but I believe that’s actually the m60 m62 s62 420g the photo I zoomed in on I think says m70-m60 on the transmission adapter the clutch adapter spacer he used I think uses a m52 duel mass front plate I wanted to see if it actually ended up working as a clutch combo that worked for that specific combo might be weird. Basically wanted working combo from someone with results if I can get it.

I’m attempting to put an m70 in my e30 and basically the last part of info I need is this the ecu is sorted (putting the wiring harness together as I type)
Engine mounts are good just have to mount the trans and make a drive shaft.
Oh you mean in that video... my bad
I am very interested in the wire-up for the needed modifications to enable cruise control.
i'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet and im only doing this from memory but if i remember rightly the m60 and m73 bellhousing have the same bolt pattern it is different to the m70
Yes I have also mounted the e46 m3 6speed gearbox to the m70via a adapterplate.
Now I need to reflash dme as it will
not rev higher than 5200rpm and cruise control does not work. Happy for any hints. Thanks
This is the adapter i bought

but if im correct no adapter plate would be required for the m73 also its a better motor
Yes, completed and running for 3 years. Updated in another post. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...850-S420g-swap
You need to install a 6sp manual vesion chip into the EML.
That will fix your cruise xontrol, assuming you have everything else wired up correctly.
