Those of you with the Stromung cat back exhaust system, have you noticed any drop in torque in the low and mid range.
My vert is a garage queen and weekend warrior only, so ultimately I am looking to improve sound over the stock set up.
I have the stock air box intake with AFE dry filter, I have not made up my mind if I want to throw money in a CAI, and I am definitely keeping the M52 mani since I know the M50 mani will give you a great boost at higher RPM’s in HP but will rob you of low end torque.
Should I be concerned with loosing low-mid range torque with the Stromung catback upgrade?
Thx-
AC
Rob might be a bit strong. If you really are concerned, then change the differential ratio. A 3.38 or a 3.46 will cure any perceived loss of torque.
No matter where you go, there you are...
You won't notice anything with just a cat back. They are purely for sound and aesthetics.
You'll enjoy it. Quality piece. Have never seen a before/after dyno. Doubt there's any detriment.

I appreciate the feed back... I will be ordering the Stromung exhaust today.
You'll love it. I noticed no power change when I installed mine, just sweet, sweet music. If anything, it gets better with some miles on it too. When new it was a bit boomy for me at 2000-2500 RPM, but seems to have quieted down in that region with a thousand or so miles on it. Under full throttle, it's just glorious.

You only lose low end torque if you do the manifold swap without a tune. Don't expect huge gains by just swapping a $100 part. I just did a 3.5" intake, 3.5" Porsche 803 MAF, 3.5" elbow, m50 manifold swap, 24 # injectors and the Epic Motorsport tune and my car screams with no lose of torque or power anywhere through the power band. I also have the Stromung catback and it sounds great, even better than before this air intake upgrade.
Do your upgrades properly and completely and you won't be disappointed.

you might need to hammer on the stromung for wheel clearance depending on what suspension you're running. search for threads.
Stromung has a low bass/little drone sound which is pretty nice. Other milder sounding catbacks are supersprint, borla, remus, dinan. Others are more throaty and loud. I have own or have ridden in cars with all of those plus UUC sys U, Corsa, triflo, Umnitza dual can (forget the name). The sys U was painful to my ears. Haven't heard the eisenmann, rogue,, hks, tubi, or ansa in person ...and maybe others.
You probably won't lose torque going with an aftermarket catback. CAI is a waste of money, provides inferior filtration, and does nothing except add a little sound.

I suggest AA Gen III as another option. It has no drone to speak of in third gear around 2.5k rpm. This is during my daily commute in traffic. It is high quality and no fitment issue. I like the uniqueness of the exhaust can. It cost less than Stromung if you search around.
Def look into the AA if they've dropped their price below Stromung. The weight savings is real. 17 pounds less than Dinan Gen 1 (modified OE exhaust). Here's more detail on my thoughts from when I installed mine - starts at post 82, pretty sure the link doesn't go directly to it.

I purchased my at THMotorsport. Home I don't get band for this.
The stromung pricing is just right.. Below 7.
Doing a quick search, the AM system is much higher.
Unless I am looking at the wrong thing.
I will PM you the link.
You'll love the Stromung. Also, I definitely had to hammer in the muffler a touch since the inner sidewall of my tire was rubbing against it, particularly while banking hard right (stock wheels and suspension, although recently upgraded to Dinan springs and Koni shocks).
I bought my Stromung in January directly from Stromung because he gave me a better price and shipping than any other retailer. I had no fitment issues. It went on great and sounds great. I love it!

Well I finally decided for the Stromung. Looking forward to it.
