Congrats! 1st drive is a huge milestone.
Thank you sir! I think I may tackle the trunk floor this weekend so I can complete the exhaust. Running around the block a couple times with no mufflers was ok but not for any real testing. Hard to listen for noises or feel for errant vibrations when all your getting is noise and vibration! 😀
So I completed the shifter setup using a slightly modified factory early E39 shifter assembly and a 36" cable and bracket from Shiftworks.

See post #61 for balance of pics.
Came within 1/8" of being able to use the automatic bezel, even had the shift indicator working. I did create some clearance but didn't like the result so the manual boot will have to do.

Well, doing this was a little nerve racking:

But on a positive note, I did learn that my battery tray was holding on by 1/2 a spot weld:

So I welded up all the holes and cracks and then welded the tray back in:

What are you doing with the aircon?
Please write up the details when you do the aircon, are you planning on getting the cruise and traction control functioning as well?

I have the drivers side s-curve muffler discharge pipe mocked up in the pic, building the passenger side and custom 3"x5.25" oval 304SS tips. The tips will almost completely fill the cutouts in the valence and will hide the discharge pipes and a good chunk of the mufflers. The mufflers are stock 2016 Mustang 5.0L. Painted them flat black to help the mufflers disappear under the car. Pic is misleading from the angle, they only hang 3" below the valence and are level. Going with stock mufflers as I do not want this car loud, just a little rumble. The tubing from the fuel tank back is also from the Mustang and everything north of the tank is 2010 Camaro SS.

another good build. I really like the radiator fill neck. I am hoping to fire mine up for the first time in the next few days.
I see in your first post you wanted to eventually do an 8.8 swap to it. I wish you would have done it before so I would have had something to go off of lol. it was very time consuming.
ahh yeah the explorer 8.8 seems to be the go to setup. I have the IRS out of my E46 I think when I get some time I am going to fabricate one into it, sandblast and powdercoat it and sell it. I am sure there are plenty of people out there that would love a bolt in swap.
Love it, like the idea of a nice not loud exhaust for a drivers car, are you going to carry a full size spare or something else?

Cut the maf inlet tube from a Silverado airbox:

To graft it in place of the much smaller tube on the 540I airbox:

Nice Work, airbox looks the ducks guts
I think a little wrinkle black on that aluminum intake tube and it will look totally stock!
