Thinking about having this cast in aluminum and ready to be painted if there is enough interest.
Interested?

The original Racing Dynamics unit, plus the knock-offs were done in fiberglass. Fiberglass would be lighter, and more easily finished. Have you looked into that option?

Which piece, what year? I have a 91 and removed my front plate and now need some sort of filler (part #51118108169). It's kind of a pricey piece for a small piece of plastic, so was thinking of fabricating something (not sure out of what yet).
My Cars - 1991 BMW 850i - mine for fun, 1993 Saab 900c - mine for fun, 2008 Lexus is250 - my daily driver, 2003 Dodge Durango - my wife's, 1994 Acura Legend - gave it to kid
If the piece your are talking about is the strip that runs between the brake ducts - I bet there would be a lot of interest. These were made before but I think they are not available anymore. Here are some pictures:

For me, this is the piece I am missing (they go for like $150 on-line).

That is the piece the one you circled but it is solid from side to side no indentation or fastener receivers.

They make two versions - one as shown above to mount a front plate with a place for the 2 mounting screws, and one that is pointed all the way across for no front plate.

This would be non-plate version.

I would be interested too if someone is planning to look into fab.

You can use mine as a reference part for your effort if you can make A and C pillar covers also.
If you have an extra set of those i may be able to vacuum form them. I have never seen the part so I do not know.

This is a great idea. Many of us could use fresher parts. Some are still available from BMW, depending on color -- others you would have to buy the wrong color and then re-cover them. For those of us doing things like headliner replacements, it would be great to start with a new blank piece and cover to match. I know I need both A-pillars.
Cheers, John
I am thinking of vacuum forming a new headliner blank. I will start a new thread.

Hello All- Did anyone ever fabricate this part? Or have one for sale? I’m looking for the filler without the holes for front plate bracket. Thanks and ready to buy!
