ah alright, I did all the chains and lower guides when I built my motor as well.
I'm happy that you were able to solve the issue. Were you able to see any order of abnormal wear on the parts you changed out that might have caused the noise?
FWIW I did all IWIS master-less chains w/ new guides/tensioners/etc. on my engine when I built it. I think the only thing I didn't replace was the sprockets. I did put on a new crank sprocket, though.

Nothing I could see just by looking at them or putting them together to compare. Teeth were not pointy, sharp or worn badly. There was some wear on the thrust washers from the spring plate but that's normal from what I've seen. Nothing really stood out that would make me say it was the cause of the problem. I was surprised when I fired it up and the noise was gone, I honestly figured I spent a bunch of money for nothing.
I don't remember off hand but it fit fine and the chain lines up fine. Just a rattle, only when the car is warmed up, at light throttle around 3000 RPM. Going more than 5% throttle or 0% throttle makes it go away. I'll tear the engine down some day to check it out.
Bringing this thread up.
Did anyone successfully diagnosed this 3k low load rpm falling rattle noise?
