That price is right out of realoem. Not a quote from a dealer. But even at that it's not horrible.

If I get a quote from my dealer I'll share it.

Finally have some positive wickerbill news. A sample was made but the die still needs tweaks. I'm told this will happen soon. Even though it isn't 100% right, I was super happy to see something made!

And the GT Tray strut kits are moving along nicely. I was given prototype mounts and the machine shop received the stock to do 50 sets of rods all done by hand!! Soon as I have the rods I can sign off on the fitment and a full run of mounts will be made.

    That's awesome news!

I'm very excited to get my Gurney on!

I'm not interested in the struts; however I notice the stiffening dimples are not in the repros. Will those be added? Those little dents add a lot of stiffness at the bend...

Every place I have taken them to talk about adding those dimples gripes about the difficulty and cost. The metal shop who made the brackets used metal twice as thick as a solution. This will be equal in strength to the original which is quite thin. I'm testing to make sure that will fit okay with all the trim. I'm all ears for a cost effective solution to thinner metal and getting the dimples added.

If the material is thicker that will help.

A die would be needed to stamp them to get the dimples. Otherwise it is just bent on a brake.

Great work. I know what it takes to get stuff like this done.

No wicker updates yet, but the front spoiler tray struts are nearing completion.

Enough rods to do 50 full sets... all hand made off the original BMW rods.

The goal is for the rods to work with the OEM front spoiler tray in two different configurations. One is the OEM/Replica mounting with the tray able to extend out to oem max of 95mm past the bumper lip. The other is mounting to the Motion Motorsports panel (or my own creation) with 115mm of tray extension.

OEM mounting and rods installed. Tray holes are drilled for 115mm tray extension. In this position all rods point straight forward.

Here are the holes drilled to fit the struts at the 95mm OEM position. In this position the middle rod remains straight forward while the outer rods see a toe out with the wider spread outer holes.

    Middle rod

    Outer rod

    Miscellaneous details

Flat bottom blind holes drilled to sink the screw heads

    How the outer mounts attach

    Middle mount

With bumper strip on outer mount

Middle mount with bumper strip on (bottom edge of the strip being up is intended fitment)

I'll have more tray strut updates once I get the setup mounted on my brother's M3 with the motion motorsport panel.

That's wicked cool but even with my high ride height I'd endo on the street with my splitter all the way out and fixed like that...

    Hmmmm... good point.

So what are they selling for? Or are all 50 sets spoken for already?

Still stoked over the Gurney strip.

Here are the pics of the OEM tray installed on the MM panel with the replica tray struts in place.

A brief overview of how it is installed. Please note I still need to have custom spacers made to secure the outer portions of the tray to the MM panel, and the middle bolts are clearly temporary. All new M12 hardware is currently on order to finalize proper mounting.

Did you even bother with the center splitter bracket and just bolt it to the underpanel? I'm looking for a solution around my big intercooler. Car doesn't look the same without the tray anymore.

The center mounting is shown. In the full 115mm extension mode the mounting is all within the bumper cover.

I don't think you understand. The OEM tray is mounted to the MM panel. There are no OEM brackets for the tray needed.

    Woah.
Looks like I'll be keeping my tray after all.

is there any effective sturdy way to mount to the MM tray without the externally mounted standoffs? as in a bracket that connects MM underpanel to the other 2 holes on L and R side of the splitter? Even if that means a less aggressive 'attack' position of the splitter, as in more inbound mounting towards the engine.

Yes, OEM BMW. The BMW kit includes instructions on how to drill your tray.

BMW part number is right here

The real rods are incredibly rare and very expensive when they do come up for sale. New sets can sell for over $2k.

I can't wait for a set of these and the gurney flaps. I'm going to be the hardest parked person at cars and coffee this year haha.
I'm just ecstatic that someone like braymond took these on, as we have all seen what crap some people produce in the e36 world when it comes to reps/reproductions.
