    e36 m3 vs evo x

So last night I was cruising around the highway testing out my new RR BBTB. I was going around 65 on the slow lane when an evo x flew by me pretty quickly going at least 110. I downshifted and played catch up... He slowed down and waited for me. It was pretty late at night so we were alone on the highway. We both rolled down our windows and I asked for a 40 roll. Idk why but I love going from a 40 roll lol. I immediately started pulling on him. Grabbed 3rd gear and he was around my rear bumper... I had at least two cars on him by the end of 4th gear and I shut down halfway through 5th since it didn't seem like he was going to catch up. Very cool guy and I've seen him at a couple car meets so I'll definitely ask what mods he has the next time I see him. All I know is that his car was very loud so he at least had an exhaust.

Mods on m3: m50, Dinan cai, 803 maf, 24lb injectors, bw elbow, RR BBTB, RR regrinds, 2.5" catback, 3.38 diff , gutted trunk no spare, rktuned

Car is stanced but hopefully getting a better setup in a couple months so I can actually get some traction haha

Hopefully! My goal when my car was stock was to keep up with sti's and evos. I'm not too sure maybe around 240whp depending on the dyno

Id say you are close to 250-260whp cause I put down 220whp with just intake and muffler delete..

Long tubes coming soon and maybe a 3" exhaust set up so maybe! It's hard to find races around here though

Sounds about right. The Evo X isn't too impressive until it has at least a good downpipe, intake, test pipe, 3 port boost controller and a solid tune. When you tune a bolt-on one on e85, they become VERY fun and quick cars!

Very true. They're also pretty heavy compared to the evo 8's and 9's. A cammed e36 can still outrun one with these mods listed though.

I've seen bolt on EVO X's trap 115+ in the 1/4. No NA E36 has ever don't that to my knowledge. I think one has hit 110 with big cams and massive weight reduction , also being a LTW.

I guess it depends on how well the evo was sorted. Dunno

Not on pump gas with the stock turbo. Just barely on E85 or race gas tune. But if you define bolt ons for a factory turbo car as including a bigger turbo, sure. Bolt on Supras can go from 300 hp stock to 750 hp . . . .

Im sure like a lot of stock turbo cars, there is a wide power range from "bolt ons."

But me, OP, DaInfammus, New2m3 have all pulled on evo x's NA so its pretty clear cut...

I have a coworker with a charger srt8 that's been wanting to run me. I already told him that he'll beat me easily but maybe I'll do it just to see how bad it'll be haha

What are your mods? Back when I had my e30 with a stock s52(which was also fuel starving) my coworker beat me in his 07 srt8 by about 2 car lengths from 60 to 120. The same e30 beat an evo X by a couple car lengths. Depending on your mods will determine how well you do.

If he's stock and one of the older 1st gens I think you'll have a good chance. Race him and report back.

just riot racing regrinds. Mods are on the first post of the thread. Your setup is really nice though so I've been thinking about it but I'm still not sure if I'm that committed to this car

From experience with your setup, go for it. If it's a first gen it'll be closer than you might think. If you go from a dig and you get him out of the hole he might not catch you. Rolls as the speeds go up will be better for him.

I used to pull R/T's with that setup and I only had one run with an SRT8. It wasn't a super clean run but enough to make him say damn, what you got in there? Lol

it's the newer 392 SRT charger. I've raced the older R/T's and have done pretty well against them. Been curious about HR Z's and 370's and how well I'd fair against those

Modded HR's would give me a run for my money but end up getting pulled up top, 3rd gear and above. I'd imagine you'd be door to door with them. Only ran 1 highly modded 370z from a roll and the only chance he had was 40 and above, any other one with just bolt ons would get walked. 392 SRT will probably put a couple cars on you if he can drive.

Took a loss tonight! I ran my coworkers g37s and his buddy's HR 350z tonight. G37 was completely stock aside from the exhaust and I was able to put a couple cars on him from a 65 roll. My loss came from the HR...the only mod that I know of is a single 3" exhaust. We also went from a 65 roll. The top end on those things are crazy! We're pretty much even until the top of fourth gear then he would start pulling on me pretty good(around 2 cars). I'm pretty happy that I was able to beat a g37s though!

    Weird.

Sounds like you need some big boy cams.

I'm really considering it! The riots are great but they're getting pretty boring after a couple months of running them
