Hello everyone,
I'm not very active on the forums anymore, however I thought I would share one of my current personal projects. I started tearing the car down as of July 2015, and I hope to have it finished by the end of 2016. All fabrication and work was done by me.

Here's a run down of what's been done:
Body/Chassis
-2001 740IL in Titanium Silver with black interior
-BC Racing BR Spec coilover setup
-Rotors and pads upgraded
-Will be running Weld RT-S wheels with Mickey Thompson drag radials out back
-E39 M5 LSD with custom driveshaft shop driveshaft and axles
-Reinforced rear subframe
Engine/Trans
-2005 LQ9 6.0 motor from Escalade
-2005 4L80E
-Ls9 headgaskets
-ARP head studs
-Full valvetrain upgrade including timing set, custom ground turbo cam, pushrods, springs, retainers and trunion upgrade
-Custom fabricated turbo setup using factory truck manifolds flipped
-88mm Borg Warner turbo with 1.32 backside (Yes, its a big bitch)
-Upgraded fuel system
-Custom fabricated intercooler and charge pipes
-Custom harness
-Turbosmart powergate and raceport BOV
That's pretty much it for now. The motor is assembled and installed, just waiting to finished fabricating the rear subframe reinforcements so I can measure for the driveshaft. Planning to make at least 600hp on pump gas, once the bottom end gets built I may shoot for 4 digits.

Awesome!! This section needs more LS powered E38's. Can't see the photos at work but look forward to seeing them at home!
So epic! I've always loved E38's...now this?
Yeah, I just got it. First Benz. I love having the LS powered BMW and the AMG. Mega torque across the board
Absolutely fantastic and awesome work so far! I bet it'll be nothing short of stupendous once complete ! Will it be an auto or converted to manual?!
All the engine and drivetrain technical stuff especially component level and specific parts knowledge goes over my head, I don't even know what a spanner/wrench does! What I do know is all those modified bits are what'll make this project amazing !
Would it be possible to send you a private message with regards to an idea please?!
Cheers, Dennis!

Are you sure that intercooler is big enough?
Eat, drink, and be merry - for tomorrow we drive.
I love this build! It feels so similar... ;-)
You should will make 600hp with that turbo easily. I'm shooting for a similar # on 9-10 lbs out of an 80mm Borg. At 15-18 it should do ~750. The 88 should do similar #'s at slightly less boost.
Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to updates!
did photobucket start blocking bimmerforums or something? because i can't see any of the pictures

So badass!! Im stuck on e38s and if this silly v12 bites the dust for whatever reason, LSx swap is on the table big time!
There needs to be alot more photos documenting this though... Any interest in replicating the mounts ? On the DS did convert to a single piece or did you stay a two piece ?

Are you interested in helping with a coilover install? Orlando
Yes indeed! I had forgotten all about this car!
I’ve always thought the E38 740i was the prettiest car BMW ever built. Bought a 2000 740i ///M-Sport as a project a few weeks back with 200K+ on the clock and a P0011 code (Bank 1 cam timing advanced). Cam position sensors weren’t it. Vanos solenoid worked, so that wasn’t it. Dropped the pan and found plastic and a BUNCH of metal shavings in the oil. Option 1- replace chains and guides and rebuild Vanos units, and I’ll have about $1500 and a lot of hours invested in a drivetrain with 200K on the rest of it. Hmm... Option 2: an LS swap. It’s going to be the latter. Not thinking about it, or dreaming about it, gonna do it. Shopping now for the right motor and transmission, while doing internet research on E38/39 LS conversions. Anyone out there who has done one and has some advice for someone who’s undertaking the project without having done one yet? I’d love to hear from you - what kind of mistakes should I try to avoid, if you had yours to do over again what would you do different, etc.
