Thumbs up Unknown ABS control unit part numbers – how to find compatibility?

    Hi!

I purchased a used, but supposedly working, ABS control module from eBay a few months back.
The old one has been repaired before, but this time it was beyond salvation.
    That one had BMW part no. 34.52-6 753 869 / Bosch part no. 0 265 950 002.

Having searched the web and found a replacement I believed would work, I installed it, and had a mechanic attempt to reset/code this unit, as well as my "new" airbag control unit.
HOWEVER, he told me he was unable to communicate with any of the car's control modules until he disconnected the ABS control module.
    Have you experienced this?
    The new module has BMW part no. 34.52-6 758 971 / Bosch part no. 0 265 950 002
I believed the Bosch number was the essential one, as this indicated the same generation of both HW and SW.

I have tried to locate the BMW part numbers of both the old and new units at www.realoem.com, but they appear to be unknown part numbers.
Do you know of any other sources to find compatible parts with my old one...and to check which cars my new would will actually fit?

The car is a European 2000 model 728i, VIN DN20080. Maybe using a US part is the cause?

    See image, below.

    Thank you!
    Tord.

I think the Bosch part numbers are indeed all that should matter - it's quite possible the used one you bought was dead already.
See my E38 parts for sale on eBay: click here!
PM me here for a 5% discount on any of them!

    So did I.
If NOT, the hunt for compatible parts becomes pretty impossible.
