I have heard about an upgrade for the small screen nav with DSP. Can anyone tell me what the advantages are, and is it worth it?
I did this. Better nav system and graphics and the wider screen is of course nicer too. If you want a more up to date system, but still stock, it's as updated as you can get. I am about to pull the trigger on a grom so I can have Bluetooth capability.

No, it's not worth it. The last year for maps for the MKIV is 2015. The interface while better than the MKII is nothing compared to a Garmin that'll cost you less than the MKIV computer, or even a smartphone. You can hook up a Grom or Audiovox/Dice unit to your MKII for bluetooth, usb, aux and satellite. The only reason I'd upgrade is if your MKII dies. While the Nav looks better on the widescreen, the radio actually looks worse. Also, you don't have to do both (MKIV and widescreen) upgrades. You can do one or the other, or both.
