    Anyone Use The Foxwell NT510?

I found this chart that shows the specific function per BMW model which is helpful. ECS has it for $199, but I found it on amazon for $165. Seems pretty reasonable for all the readout capability and the coding it claims. Plus you can buy additional software for other manufacturers as well. Just curious if anyone has actual experience with the tool and can speak to ease of use and functionality. Would love to be able to retire that old serial port laptop that I have to use for my e31 and e38.

I don't know anything about the Foxwell unit but if you haven't done it recently, have a look at Carly for BMW. They have now released their Gen 2 adapter and claim a pretty wide model coverage that includes cars from E38 to F series.

Keep in mind the Foxwell branded versions sold around the web do not come with the same software package as the Schwaben BMW/MINI scan tool. HERE is a link to the e90post thread on the tool (good bit of shared info among the guys there on the Foxwell NT510 and the Schwaben BMW/MINI scanner)

Thanks James. Very detailed thread. I see that the additional software included is the service interval reset, but what is the other package that is included?

Obviously from a value perspective, seems better to go through you guys... Heck I already give you enough with my e31 lol, might as well keep it in the family!

Any guidance on limitations on the e31 that aren't already limitations with DIS / INPA? I have a fully built diagnostics laptop, but obviously very cumbersome compared to this little beauty.

E31 especially early are going to be very limited on features. This isn't due to the tools or software used, it's just the DMEs don't have the echo commands to provide all the detailed data.

Electronic parking brake reset, SRS reset, and service intervals are the "big 3" packages that our tool has.

    X5 E53 4.6is (2003)
    540iT (1999):
I bit the bullet and ordered one also along with a bentley manual. I've got 3 BMWs E39 M5(2003), X5 E53 4.6is (2003), and 540iT (1999). Because it has specific BMW codes it seams worth the investment and well beyond a peak code reader.

i'm using the foxwell tool http://www.eobdtool.co.uk/wholesale/...m-scanner.html

    Hope it's helpful.

Bumping this. The live data "saving"...I may be missing something, but I selected a custom list ( ECT, IAT, RPM, intake lb/Hr, ignition advance) and was monitoring those live. When I hit save (which I assume is to begin saving), I did a third gear pull to redline and then hit "stop saving".

In playback I'm only getting 32 frames of info recorded. No where near the WOT pull. Is this not capable of saving the pull? Anyone else try this?

James, Do you know if this unit can program keys and or memory setting, shut off bulb monitoring and do things like window control from the remote? (We have 2e39s and an e53. Also does your version do the same for Volkswagens (Mk6 Jettas)?

    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay just saw your post, I have not been able to get key programming to work on the E36/E46, even though Foxwell says it should be able to do it. For BMW Foxwell still hasn't released any long coding updates (being able to change bulb monitors, etc), which is very disappointing (I'd love to turn off the angel eyes on my E61). BUT for VW, yes the Foxwell will code, it's a slow an tedious process and I highly suggest a battery tender during it, not to down-sell the Schwaben tool but check out OBDeleven (LINK) if you have an Android phone it's hard to beat, one click coding options plus the ability to long code just like with vagcom.

Thanks for the reply. Obd11 won’t work for me as I don’t like Android phones.

I had one email exchange with Foxwell support that looked like i could use the NT510 to program a key I bought from eBay for our 2002 325i. Unfortunately, didn't work as they suggested and they haven't replied to my last request.

They sent me a very basic message that said go to " car model--Service--Drive-- Electronic car immobilization system ". I tried to put the new key in slot 6 or 7 - However, I got the message “the status of the active key cannot be changed” – I got this message with the key I was trying to program as well as a key that works/ starts the car.

Since i can't get even a good key to be acknowledged, appears it can't be done.

Has anyone found doc how what the menus are and can do? Pretty limited info on the BMW options (outside of this thread)...

Sorry to hijack your thread but hate to create similar thread just for such a simple questions.

This is more or less for the ECS rep.

I don't care which one really, but would either of this work on E36 M3 to trouble shoot CEL, ABS, and SRS? This scanner seems better suited for newer car with more electronics. I have Peake tools but wondering if either of these would be a step up, if it is what are the things you can do with this that the old Peake can't.

    Thanks

for e36 m3 your best bet is what is available on this forum for free. For newer cars, x431 is the way to go unless you need to dig deep into a car. No tool does everything simple as that

I use the Foxwell NT510 for my 2001 E38, 2005 E46 and 2006 E90. I have the following Software / Firmware for the BMW Verion 10.0 dated 12/30/16, the OBD-II Version 6.20 dated 07/17/15 and the Operating System version 9.20 dated 11/10/16 installed on the NT510 unit. I had to purchase the circular connector for the under hood data port for the E-38. If you connect to the Data Link Connector in the dash below the seat heat buttons you cannot access all of the engine data in the E-38. The other cars can use the DTC under the drivers side dash for all data. The software /firmware versions I mention above have fixed many of the problems with the older s/w versions. Some of which were not being able to read the VIN, incorrect production date and misreading some systems status. The only problem I find with the updated versions is that it still thinks I have the Radiator Blind (Extreme Cold Weather Blinds to block airflow to the radiator) installed on my E90. I get the Radiator Blinds Missing error (yes, not suppose to be installed and are not installed). Other than that, the unit works for all 3 cars and I think it was a good investment. I've had the NT510 now for about 5 years and since the upgraded software / firmware am pleased with it's capabilities. It is an essential tool in my toolbox.

Will it work bmw x3 2010? I am also thinking to buy this Foxwell NT510 scan tool.
I am thinking to buy this https://obd2scanners.org/foxwell/nt510-reviews/. I guess it's a decent code reader but not sure it will work on my car or not.
Update: This Foxwell NT510 diagnosis scanner works with my car.

I seriously doubt that. It’s not up to the level of coding.
