Dropped by the machine shop that did my non vanos head 2 years ago and gave them the head at 9am, got a call at 12 to pick it up, 60 bucks, decked and hot tanked.
Just got mine back today too cost me $80 tho!

So why did you decide to put a stock engine back in with your power goals?
Time constraints really got me, I have most of the parts to assemble the built bottom end, but then I will need a twin disc clutch, I want cams/ a race oil pump (maybe a dry sump setup)
I dont want to cobble it together and then wish I had done something different in the future, So a stock block should handle 700whp for the next few race events I do, and I will just come bigger and badder next year.
So what is the engine setup for this version of the build? I'm so lost... Haha
M52 block, cutring hg, non vanos head, s50 cams.
So factory M52 rods, pistons, and rings, with widened end gaps?
Just full factory, not touching the end gaps.
Cool, thanks!!
Do you know what range those end gaps usually fall in?
Last time i measured an engine with over 100k it was at .018 top and .020 bottom.
Ehh ill drive my truck when its crappy out, and i have a company car i drive monday through saturday, but i will drive my car as much as I can as I love driving it.

Thank you! A couple of guys have reported really small end gaps on very high miles M62s with alusil blocks recently. Might explain part of the reason that M52s love some bewst, while the M62s like to break pistons at the first opportunity...
Your experience making big power with high miles M52s shows that these ring gaps seem to be sufficient with e85 at least. Maybe not with pump gas, huh? But that's a different story!
My setup was with an m50, but plenty of members here have made big power on m52's with pump gas.
Thanks for the info!
Did you try to keep your A/C at any point, or no? I'm probably going to have to go top mount since I also have an HX40 sitting in my garage. Does your manifold allow this, and if not, do you know of any that do?
