Can we see pictures of said cracks. My old motor I just replaced had multiple cracks from head studs to coolant passages on the block. My only guess was from an over heat situation that happened some years ago. The head was cracked in multiple spots. Nothing was spotted on the block back then.

11:1 compression abd 35psi will murder the block..... i know ics mudered a few 11:1 e85 30+psi engines.

Cams will really wake it up in the midrange and up top! Just built one with shrick sports, s366, id1700s and a haltech sport 2000 on corn. Its on only 9 psi and it books! Now that the clutch is fully broken in we're gonna turn it all the way up!

Misfires can create some nasty cylinder pressure spikes that go beyond anything you would see with normal combustion or even detonation. I wouldn't rule that out for your block problem and find/fix that before turning up the new build.
