I actually have both on mine. The leak doesn't feel like it's coming from where the gaskets are though. I went ahead and ordered a new thermostat cover because all the new ones I see have grooves for the hose and mine doesn't. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a new one. But do you think me having both may be causing an issue?
I have never used more than the one specified for the unit.
make sure you have this one too....
see page 1
Let me just make sure I have this right before I spend another week trying to fix this.
The new thermostat cover I ordered has an A on the top where the bleeder screw is. Does that mean I need to get the actual thermostat housing with the A on top or should the or I have work?
The actual Thermostat Housing come in 2 different part numbers. And fits different Thermostats. One make sure you have the latter style thermostat with more of a dome shape to it. If you have a new housing. Also make sure you placed it in the housing correctly.
No:1
New Housing PN:11531710959
Old Housing PN:11531272870 11531250352
But the front cap of the housing (has the bleed screw)should make no difference. They are all the same.

HI 8991XJ, Sounds like Jag u r. I have a 85 745i. I've researched the forum for info concerning the part # for the "A" on the top of thermostat. Also, I'm interested in the Sach Fan Clutch part #. I have the BMW parts # for both from Realoem BMW. When searched various brands comes up in search excluding the Sach. Do you happen to know the Sach Fan Clutch part # and the "A" Thermostat part #?
The info will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks
